Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Alright, I lied about the trains. And by 'automobile', I mean van.
I have learned the hard way that picking today to walk over to the hangar I needed to get to in which to get the last of my books for my pilot class (because private pilot lectures is awesome even if the prof's voice makes me drowsy). Because today it snowed.
And when it snows out here, there is wind.
Now, imagine if you will an extremely flat area of land, because this is an airport. Now imagine the icy chill of 20 mph (32.18688 km/h for you metric system people) winds and snow in your face. Yeah. Not the smartest idea. Also, since they don't want people walking in areas where, I don't know, planes land, this was a fairly long walk, because I had to go AROUND everything.
But, there is a good part to this story!
Once I got there, I went in the wrong entrance (because by then, I thought any entrance was better than dying of exposure) but the lady was kind enough to let me cut through the middle. Where they were doing stuff to planes. Mostly Cessnas and little ones like that, but IT SMELLED LIKE AIRPLANE GREASE AND STUFF which is in fact awesome. And then I get to the desk and one of the mechanic guys was just going to take his van around the airport and offered me a ride back to the part of the airport where I could get a bus.
Which meant I didn't have to walk back!
Also, we got there just as the bus arrived which meant I didn't have to stand in the cold and wait for it!
And then I went to lunch. Now, mealtime has turned into a sacred thing for me, because I am serious about attempting to gain some weight. I think I'm hitting about even in regards to what I put in to what I burn off, so that's good at least (walking for me is like running a marathon for some people... yes I know, hate all you want, but being hungry all the time and boney has its downside). Certain foods are starting to get a little old, so I try to hit up a variety of dining courts, depending on what classes I have on a particular day. I find myself gravitating towards a lot of the Asian-ish foods, and heaping on as much meat and tofu as I can find, because protein = good! for me.
Today there was loaded potato soup.
Alright, some of you might know this, but this is my favorite soup ever. Because I hate watery soups, and I love bacon. And potato. And chives. I couldn't believe my luck, because I'd been waiting for it to show up in one of the dining courts like, SINCE I STARTED SCHOOL.
Also, soup is good when you almost froze yourself to death accidentally.
So despite not getting enough sleep last night and giving myself a little windburn, it all evened out. Now I am going to do some school readings for the rest of the afternoon, probably hit up the on the go food place and see if they have loaded potato soup because yeah, it's that awesome, and probably make tea.
I also managed to burn some popcorn in my room last night and letting my room sit with the window partly open and one of those plug-in air fresheners has nullified the burnination. Sweet.

P.S. Dear wardrobe remix. Quit reminding me I'm in a very cold climate and can't flounce around in girly things without getting hypothermia. Just to spite you I posted my tres chic winter wear. It's all about the layers!
P.P.S. Hey, any of you sewing people that can come up with cute things to wear that can handle raging wind, subzero temperature, and manage to not be bulky or fleece (because sorry, fleece is just crazy) you win big!
