Disconnect (Study Procrastination)

+ This was a great thing to see in my feedreader today. I like to read random graphic arts types blogs, because as superficial as it is, I like seeing things concerned with beauty. I'm not a news junkie (in fact, I tend to dislike most news), and I don't even keep up so much with science news even these days. Little tidbits of individual lives are far more interesting. And well, the snarking of TLo, but they're bitchy without being cruel, which is something I have a hard time finding. I don't know what it is, but I just find a lot of things really unfunny. Maybe I'm sensitive. It's weird.

+ This is kind of interesting.

+ Instructables is a highly addictive site, considering I'm all about sweet hacks.

+ It's cold. For some reason this makes me want to write poetry. XD I'll settle for tea, though.

+ The inverted pendulum almost smacked one of my group members in the face. Considering I came in late and got stuck with the No Fun Group, this made me giggle. Next lab I'm coming earlier, I don't like being in the No Fun Group. The Fun Group got a blue screen of death, though.

+ I may have finally figured out how to burn DVDs without having to buy expensive softwares. This makes my life awesome.

+ My room smells awesome.

P.S.

Best way for you to de-stress after a hard day?
Go to the Market, have a sandwich, a beer and sit and read in it until it gets too crowded. I go to social hangouts to read, I suppose this is weird.

As a kid, did you like to read?
That sums up my childhood for the most part, actually.

Are you the type to tell someone if their pants DO make them look fat?
Yes, but nicely at least. I don't help people delude themselves, and would rather help them find something that flatters their form more, because every form is beautiful.

What is the most trouble you have ever gotten into?
Almost got arrested a couple times. Actually, I tend to never get caught, even when I stabbed a kid in the leg. So. I'm kind of lucky in that regard.

Do you have any habits that others would find strange or different?
I have to lay out my notebook, pens, pencil bag, notebook, and whatever other class materials I have for a class just so or it drives me nuts. I do this in every class that has actual desk space (some don't, this also drives me nuts).

The main goal of your life is to...?
Leave something worthwhile, or at least nothing negative.

A word that accurately describes your personality:
I can't think of a single word. Single words are for losers.

A philosophy that you live by:
Don't wait for someone else to do something right for you, do it yourself.

Are there any song lyrics that you closely relate to?
I will admit to "Losing a Whole Year" by Third Eye Blind. Others I will not admit to.

Who do you feel most comfortable around?
Drak. I don't have to be what is expected.

If this person died, who would you turn to?
My family. They're what I had before and will always have.

How do you deal with hardships and loss within your life?
Well, it used to be a lot of unhealthy things, now I mostly deal by just moving forward. Only thing you can do.

What was the biggest challenge you've had to overcome?
My crushing self-doubt. I still find myself wondering what the hell other people keep seeing in me, but it's not a constant thing, at least.

Do you ever secretly look down on someone because of their "label?"
Only if they are a textbook example of their label. But it's not look down as much as feel a little sad and disgusted at the same time.

Why does almost everyone detest country music?
Why do people look down on hicks? I'll bet they're related.

What is one talent/skill that you wish you could master?
Drawing. Maybe someday.

Do you still want the same career you thought you did as a child?
Pretty damn close, actually.

If not, what career DID you decide you wanted?
An astronaut. Instead I make video game astronauts and do engineering.

Would you consider yourself an independent person?
Almost. Financially is the last step. I think I have mostly everything else.

How do you handle bad arguments?
I don't.

If someone doesn't share your views/opinions, how do you react?
I generally try to figure out where they're coming from. If it's a stupid point they're coming from, I may write up a rant to myself and delete it later. Gets rid of the rage.

How has this past week been?
Hell until Friday. It's alright now.

Been anywhere? If so, where?
Everyone's been somewhere. Unless they live in a bubble.

What is something you do that is wasteful?
I worry.

Are you "blunt," or do you sugarcoat your words?
Depends on the person, actually. I'm usually blunt, though.

When a stranger greets you, what's your general reaction?
Paranoia, usually. I hide it, but it scares the hell out of me.

Did finding out the truth about where babies come from surprise you?
I remember it amazed me. My mom gave me a cool book about it and I couldn't stop telling the other kids about it, and well, I got put in indoor recess for the next week. Schools have been trying to censor me ever since.

How did you find out the truth about Santa?
....What truth.

If you planned a roadtrip, where would you go?
A desert. I've never seen one.

Is there anything/anyone you would never admit to liking?
Is this some ploy to get me to admit it? Ha, no.

Is there a movie you LOVE, but everyone else seems to hate it?
Several. I'm ok with that, I hate several movies that other people love.

What is one way to win over your heart?
Having a morbid sense of humor, actually. I find it very disarming.

What is one way to keep it?
Patience.

What is the worst possible thing that someone could do to you?
Belittle me.

What is the most you have ever eaten in one sitting?
It was a six course meal, I remember that much.

What is the best way for someone to show they are interested in you?
Being blunt. I don't get hints.

Do you have a favorite memory?
Several.

The first band you remember liking?
Fleetwood Mac.

What is your favorite thing about the opposite gender?
They're best to cruise for chicks with. XD

What is your favorite thing about your own gender?
The strength. It's always there.

Favorite song to dance to?
David Bowie's "Golden Years"

Favorite videogame?
Actually, I'm going to say Wii Boxing.

What's worse for you--being thirsty, or being hungry?
Thirst. I like liquids a lot.

Walk along a beach, or hike in the mountains?
The hike. I'm more clothed.

Why do people argue over whether cats or dogs are better?
The same reason people argue over boys vs. girls, Republicans vs. Democrats, and any other polarized issue. I think it's all ridiculous.

How would you describe your first concert experience?
Jazzfest was fun and I like jambalaya.

Would you rather be an only child, or have 6 bro's and sis's?
I'll take the big family. Family is great.

What is something you are ashamed to admit you cannot do?
I can't change a tire. Still learning.

What is something you are ashamed to admit you do?
I watch Sex and the City reruns sometimes. It gives me some perspective, oddly. I could always be one of those, but I'm not.

What is your favorite season, and why? ?
I like the end of Spring and beginning of summer, less allergies then and it's pretty.

What's the longest book you've ever read?
Hell if I remember.

Does your family have any unusual/unconventional traditions?
My family's Polish/Russian and Catholic. Of course they do.

Have you been through the D.A.R.E. program?
Oh yeah, I liked talking to the cop and kept asking if I could see his gun.

What do you eat on a "fat day?"
What the hell is a "fat day"?

Do you know your I.Q.?
No, I suck on tests. Besides, an arbitrary number is a silly thing to judge intelligence by.

What is the worst lie that you have ever told?
There have been a few. Sad thing is, I only lie when I'm trying to protect people. I should know by now it doesn't work.

Did you get away with it, or were you found out?
Only once. Hence the lost year.

Do you deal well with guilt?
See "my family is Catholic".

Are you impulsive?
Compulsive is more like it.

Manipulative?
I can be. Not intentionally.

What is your favorite word?
Quark. It's so fun!

Saying?
"That's what she said."

Quote?
"It is fatal to be a man or woman pure and simple: one must be a woman manly, or a man womanly." - Virginia Woolf

What turns you on, as far as someone's appearance goes?
An attractive woman, to me, is shaped more like a guitar than a flute.

How did your first relationship end?
Rather dramatically; it very much set the tone of what was to follow.

How did your first friendship end?
She decided appearances were more important than understanding. I respectfully disagreed.

Are you one to debate?
It's an unfortunate habit. I like discussion more than debate; a debate is a fight, a discussion is a spar.

What do you do when a pet dies?
I get a little upset.

Are you nosy?
Only to a point--what you are in public is everyone's business, but what you are in private is your own. I want that courtesy, so I try not to pry. However, your antics in bars will probably be seen by me and likely end up in a story somewhere.

Do you pay particular attention to what you eat?
In what sense? I eat, and I enjoy a lot of foods. I suppose I look at it before shoving it in my mouth.
