I rather love Easter
Despite being a heathen and all, it's probably my second favorite holiday (first being Halloween). Even when I was a practicing Catholic it was always less taxing than Christmas and I just really like spring. I still unconsciously buy an easter dress every couple years or so (this one I bought during winter break because buying off season means shit's cheap as hell. wearing it to a wedding I'm going to in May). Parents came up to visit, we had brunch at the diner in the area, no where fancy. Mom brought the nutroll (with sekrit family recipe!) and bunny bread (bread twisted to look like an abstract bunny. it's delicious and adorable).
And I even found The Ten Commandments on google video. WIN.Yes, I know it's silly and Old Testament, but it's my Easter Movie since I was like, seven.
Since I had a camera checked out over the weekend (which is always fun!) I took a lot of pictures of things. I made two picspams inwe_r_nerdpunk: cool stuff I don't own nor took the pics of and cool stuff I took pics of.
But there's more! Oh man, I can't wait until I get a camera of my own again.
This may look like a picture of a building, but I mostly took it because the couple on the bench on the right was so freaking cute but I had to pretend I wasn't taking a picture of them. Fullsize so you can see them better.
This looks very Silent Hill to me.
Pretentious coffee house is pretenious. XD
God I love this fountain. It makes everything around it look cooler.
And I finally took some pictures of things I've altered! YEAH. Though the before and after pics on the one shirt you can't tell much from. XD BUT I TRIED. The dress however, it rockin'.
So this is the "before" on the shirt. It's purple because I actually purchased two of the same shirt in two colors because I liked it so much (it's the lacy front bits, they were cool).
I then took the white one in about an inch and a half on the sides. Which is a lot really. I guess I should have taken a side view shot because it really sort of blouses out in the back for the purple one and now fits more tailored on the white one, but here you go.
Then Drak gave me this old dress of hers which was a pretty color and all, but it had a weird giant keyhole bodice of doom and well, I am not very well endowed and such things look ridiculous on me. So I cut it in half, and turned it into a criss-cross halter top that ties in the back. I wish I had a before picture, but I didn't have the foresight at the time. XD
The section around the middle used to be gathered, ala Marilyn Monroe style, but that always sort of emphasizes how square my torso is, so I pulled out the middle gather and sewed it down. As you can see, the seam is just a smidge off, so I'm going to redo that eventually. For now I'm leaving it, considering I have no pressing need to wear the dress yet. It's just nice to have something like that, just in case. XD
And since Drak has given me numerous old clothes to work with, I'm altering a skirt of mine that no longer fits in my aesthetic (it's a little hippie, but a lovely skirt) so that she can wear it. Get to learn how to make a side zip closure with this! I'm fairly excited for when the semester is out and I can hit all my sewing projects like CRAZY.
Edit: ZOMG A GARTER BELT TUTORIAL I have a thing for thigh socks, but they need a garter. I may have to play with this. I AM SO CREATIVELY STIR-CRAZY RIGHT NOW.
