An Odd Collection of Life Goes On

There's been a lot going on lately. For me at least.

I put in an application for an apartment that I viewed on Friday. It's in a building attached to a Turkish and a Chinese restaurant as well as a bakery! Hopefully someone won't snipe me on it, but the whole "hey I have a steady job and a possibility of a raise soon and btw, I won't have a car so you don't need a parking spot for me" thing means I have a lot going for me.

And I really want this place. Biggest studio apartment I've found in my price range, excellent location (like next to the post office, the fire station, a block from the bus station, and did I mention an attached bakery?). It also has color on the walls (one red wall, one yellow wall, one brownish wall, very warm and Mediterranean).

This may not seem like a big deal to a lot of you, but immediately after graduating last December, I moved in with my parents, because I wasn't sure if I was going to grad school yet or not, or even if I wanted to stay in this town, or pursue jobs elsewhere. Well, I like my job (most of the time, like all jobs, it's not perfect), but I don't like living about 30 minutes away from said job (yeah... that's how far out I am).

And I miss being in a town. It's no wonder I'm an introvert, having grown up out here. I got so used to people being around while in college that I think that maybe it's part of why I've been so listless.

When I'm feeling listless or anxious, I make things. Or play things.

So I'm well underway on the three charity aprons I'm making. One has a definite due date (it's for someone's birthday as well as charity), so I'm nearly done with it. I got to use tulle for the ruffles, which was a lot of fun. Clearly I need more excuses to use tulle, it has a very satisfying girliness and is easy to work with.

I also made my first apron solely just to sell, not for a specific person:

And you can also see the progress I made on my sister's dress there too. It basically needs a zipper and to be hemmed. She'll be around next week, so I'm going to wait until then, to make sure that it's not too tight or loose before I do the finishing work.

I also made some jewelry.

I need to mail off a bajillion things soon.

SO I FINISHED FFIV DS.

It only took me about two weeks to get through the damn dungeon, and then about a minute to defeat Zeromus.

Not cool, old school games. Not cool.

I don't care what fanboys say about games getting easier; I'd rather a game be easier than literally make me cry like it did last weekend. Not crying over storylines, no, crying in frustration. Over basically just random enemies. It was bullshit. I'd rather have the boss hand my ass to me and make me replay it like three times (which is what happened with Persona 3, but that was understandable).

But it was satisfying to finish it, and now it's off my backloggery list. I may come back and replay it later with the New Game+, but that's not likely to happen for a WHILE.

Now that I have a PS1 save card, I got started on Breath of Fire III. It's really super cute. So far my party is a really sweet dragon (who looks like a blue-haired boy now) who is actually the main healer, and is really hesitant to hurt things (which even shows in his battle animation SO CUTE), a cranky purple-haired mage boy who is probably related to Palom in another universe (who I really like and am pretty sure something bad will happen to him :/), and a young antrhopomorphic tiger kid who is the tank so far. I think that I'll be with these characters as they grow up, which is really interesting and different for me (probably not for most of you, but I missed the entire classic RPG era).

I mean, obviously the protagonist is SPECIAL, he's a dragon and there's a whole thing that apparently they tried to destroy the world at one point, but he's also such a gentle hero that I really like it. Also his friends started out as thieves because everyone was starving and they weren't any good at honest work. XD

The series does have the Zelda Problem of the same protagonist in every game (yes, this is a problem for me! I don't know why.) but this kid is nice enough I don't mind him sticking around. I've yet to meet The Princess, so I don't have an opinion on her.

I'm really looking forward to meeting Momo, who is like a nonsexualized bunny girl inventor that sounds like my role model.

Going to start Metal Gear Solid when I knock a couple of shorter games off my list. Then I can cycle between FFX-2 girly shenanigans, BOF3 heroic adorableness, and MGS. A game for every mood!
