Oh gods, I archived the internet
So, due to a series of hilarious events, I discovered that I archived a lot of stuff I created, and some fanart from like roughly 2005-2007? As well as some hilarious pictures of me being young(tm) and generally some fun and complex memories.
Like I have a photobucket account still, y'all. And my fandom (aka: not my real name) google account has massive amounts of random fanart I saved because... the cloud didn't really exist? I know why I kept some of it, but a lot of it is puzzling and a wonderful exercise in personal archaeology.
I know I'm not particularly old (I turn 35 in 2020), but since everyone's remastering or remaking or otherwise cashing in on the complexity of growing up on the internet, here's the stuff I found that is best for sharing with old fans like me that thought things may have been lost to the internet.
Also, nearly all the fanart is uncredited, unless I made a note because I knew the artist, I'm so sorry. As such, don't go sharing willy-nilly any art unless you can credit the artist, please.
All the fanmix album art I saved
I'm kind of pissed that only a few of them made it streaming services. Some of them made it onto my 8tracks and I have the majority of Psychobabble on Spotify.
Nearly all of the icons I ever made for Livejournal
There's some hilarious shipping going on in there, as well as the terror of Photoshop 6 capabilities. So many subfolders, I used to be SO METICULOUS in my sorting of files pre-being-able-to-search.
Starting with FFIV...
I love that I still have that one of Tellah chaperoning Edward and Anna's date oh my god. There's also some sprites from After Years, along with the official art because I don't know why I don't know the logic there. I love this folder.
All the Veld fanart pre-2011
When you get obsessed with a super minor character you hoard that shit. Also included are pictures someone (I think Drak) took while doing the training portion in Dirge of Cereberus because we believed that was Veld. Some early Crim in there!
All sorts of random Shinra/Turks fanart
I have a lot of Scarlet, Reeve being harrassed, and randomly that Reno/Aerith kick I was on for like five minutes.
And yes, there's an AVALANCHE folder
Listen, FFVII was my first FF fandom, I had a lot. This includes Before Crisis AVALANCHE, because kids, I started writing BC works before they had finished releasing episodes and fan translations came out. There's also a lot of Cid because well, I like this Cid best.
There's also this really terrible fanart of Cloud my ex-husband drew from a really horrible AU he was going to write that thankfully he never got done because that asshole never could finish a creative project ever.
THE TIFA FOLDER
Her alone, or with various ships I've flirted with over the years. Dear early twenties self; saving an entire folder of Tifa Lockheart fanart, shippy with boys or not, is pretty gay.
Last FFVII folder, The Jenova Project
I for the life of me had a hard time finding Ifalna or Gast anywhere, it's mostly Hojo, Vincent, and Sephiroth with some guest Lucrecia.
The FFVIII folder, which is very sorceress-centric
I know I particularly tried to save Edea fanart, because she's my favorite and didn't (doesn't) have a lot focusing on her outside of possession times.
The FFX folder, which is a lot of Auron/Jecht/Braska, Auron, Lulu, mostly Auron.
As Auron was my Patron Saint of Being in the Closet, I am totally not surprised by this. Though, wow, some of these are a little wtf-y
The YRP folder, which is mostly Rikku and smaller than it should be.
Some of these are adorable. This is probs the most wholesome folder I have.
