Saw Korra finale, but I'm keeping my thoughts off the internet for people's sanity, though if you need to get your feelings out feel free to email me!

I also saw Brave today and I REALLY ENOYED IT. Mostly because while I've been watching the general buzz, I've not been like steeped in every detail due to like, it not being certain fandoms. So I was pleasantly surprised! It's very mom/daughter centric, so if you've been wanting more of that in your princess stories (yay no 1-D mom!) um, this is for you.

(Also, whitemage go see this with your mom. And also your new Halloween costume I think is Merida cause reasons.

Seriously, I've hardly ever seen dead-mom done well which means I'd often rather it wasn't done at all because the bad version is somewhere between alienating and fetishising. But though I liked the movie, I'm getting the feeling that fangirling Brave would also be alienating for me. solution; spend life under rock playing Metal Gear.

Well I didn't mean to alienate, but just so you know I don't tend to become FANDOM with singular movies. I could have probably worded it like (yay not a 1-D or absent mom!) or something, though, so thanks for pointing that out. I'd rather not be That Guy in this instance.

I know and it's fine really, I am used to recognising that meta/commentary relating to normative families is Not About Me and I don't want to be That Whiny Snowflake.

It does piss me off how little stuff there is about daughters, period. Hollywood is wall-to-wall father-son dynamics and it's so boring. I am sick of seeing good worldbuilding or good acting wasted on that samey bullshit. TRON: Legacy, Thor...it's all so frustrating.

It is really frustrating. Like yes, I know, SONS AND FATHERS. THEY DO THINGS. WE GET IT. Oh god if I could genderbend TRON: Legacy how much more interesting the storyline would have been!

Granted, I have a HUGE thing about computer chicks in movies/shows (oh hai Claudia from Warehouse 13, how I wish you were Flynn's kid) so I'm biased.

(also, no matter how historically inaccurate, I cannot get the idea of Mulan and Merida fighting Huns from two different fronts and then meeting up and being bros out of my head. I mean whut.)

fff, right after seeing TRON: Legacy, I came home and wrote an AU drabble for queerlygen in which Sam Flynn was a trans woman, because that was like The More Interesting Version In My Head as I was watching it.
