+ My goal of finishing my short story has so far been thwarted. I blame wikipedia most of all. Ironically enough, this has caused a jump in my actual work productivity.

+ I clearly need to take a sociology class, as I find it infinitely more interesting than psychology. Group dynamics, generational markers, hell, watching people fight has always been more interesting to me than my own head, which is messy.

+ I finished reading Orlando during lunch break, finally. It's one of those books I'm sure would have lost impact at any other time in my life and I'm a little freaked out that Virigina Woolf is dead and seemingly reads my mind.

+ My favorite child (the bosses' daughter) sat down in the chair next to me in the lounge and told me about recycling. Part of me finds this endearingly adorable and part of me wonders what they put into children's cartoons these days.

+ [profile] ff_fanlisting, dude. You're probably going to see it popping up on your f-lists, and I am heartily amused at this.

To Do:

+ Do math!

+ Finish story!

+ Conquer world!

I’m sure I’ll have to oppose you if you go out conquering the world.

On occasion Captain Planet went into some pretty detailed explanations of saving the planet so I can image what modern shows could be doing. Though, isn’t it green week or something so her school might be doing something?

Good luck on the short story!

Personally, I'm extremely leery of psychology in general. Professionally, I get twitchy when 'data = survey'. Come on, a survey? I know that there's ways to reduce bias but, really ... just, no.

(Now some psychologist is going to rather rightly twarp me.)

In general, I just get twitchy when scientific theories get applied to people. I mean, we get things wrong in biology all the time. What if psych theories are wrong? People make the argument that it's the same as medical technology but it's just not the same.

In conclusion: yay sociology.

ps, for any psych student out there - I appreciate that you love what you study. Please don't hop on me because I have my own silly bias. I already know it's mildly ignorant. <3
