Braincrash

I usually have a braincrash about now (aka 4pm when I started this entry), and I've got two hours left (decided to sleep in a bit this morning, heh), so I'm going to show you some things I found during braincrash!

- Fame: A Romance, with Flung Tampons Did I ever mention how much of a crush I have on Sady from Tiger Beatdown? Still hate show choir, though.

- 7 Reasons the 21st Century is Making You Miserable Interesting points, which I mostly agree with. But I'm a pretty even keel person these days.

- How to Custom Order Goods from your Indie friends Aka, don't be a dick.

- Late 1930s Film Fashion I'm partial to that whole between WWI and WWII era thing, so yeah.

- How Google tells you what men and women want Well, heteronormatively speaking. My google searches are generally work related, me being paranoid about various aches and pains (I think I have typed, "wrist pain cancer" before, alright so hypochondria runs in the family) and slang terms I don't know, because I am boring. Protip: never call anyone anything you haven't googled first, and even then, just stick to "dude".

- The Midwasteland One of my new favorite style blogs. Because it's actually relevant to my general weather conditions and lifestyle! As much as I love all the stuff those hip people in the hip cities wear, there is no fucking way I am walking through ice and snow in heels, nor do I have a convenient cab or subway to hop into so I don't have to shield myself from the cold. I also don't have all those trendy boutiques nearby (or want to, because I would be broke). So it's nice to see something around my area (well, thereabouts).

- Some college statistics. Rolling in debt and still working at McDonald's? Yeah, you and a lot of dudes. Except me, ha ha.

Other awesome things:

- I have rented Freaks & Geeks from Netflix, and I am so glad I finally got to see that darn show. I missed it when it was on TV because that was during my "omg I have to be in every extra cirricular ever and have a job and I won't be able to get into college omg!" stage (which started when I was 11, btw). I am highly entertained, and the big tall guy reminds me of one of my high school ex-bfs (like, the only one I don't loathe, actually). He's my favorite character. Well, that and the dad, because he is fantastic. I mean, that's what I would say to my kids. "Don't smoke, you'll DIE." "Don't have sex, you'll DIE." Like that. This is why I shouldn't reproduce.

- Project Runway is back! LIKE ACTUALLY BACK. Season 6 was like a weird LA pipe dream, this season actually FEELS like the show again. And Sir Gunn is wonderfully diplomatic and direct about it. I'm rooting for Ping and Anthony. I like the kooks and the queens. They're my kind of people. And I have to admit that Seth Aaron's aging punk aesthetic is strangely endearing to me, and I'd wear his kind of stuff. But I'm also addicted to jackets and he makes some HOT ones. I hope he makes some hot ones on the show.

- I wore my transistor earrings to work today and the New Teacher Person Who I've Been Working With (who will now be called Bio Siren in further entries) and I told her I made them and have started an etsy shop and she expressed an interest in buying a pair. I was intending on going through all my electronics stash and adding it to the shop, so yay!

- I get minions again! There's some high school kids that are working (paid and unpaid) as interns that I get to tell to do stuff now. I'm bringing my Collection of Engineering Books for the Physics Kid because he's been put in charge of an orbital mechanics as a module (keep in mind this is for junior high kids) and I got so excited talking about Lagrange multipliers I actually didn't look where I was sitting and almost fell off a desk. Note to self: look before sitting on desks.

- I swear to god I will make that "hey some fun facts about me" post, so people don't have to read through old entries. Srsly. I just yanno, work now. And apply at that one RP that a couple dudes want me in. I have a lot of real life shit now!

- Decided the earliest I'm moving out is Spring, because who the fuck wants to move when there's snow? Not me. I may also be able to get cheaper rates if I wait until like May, as the college students will be moving out and lots of places want dudes in the summer. Will keep this on the backburner. Plus I'd like to build up a taaad more savings in case of sudden unemployment (not that I think it will happen, but I don't trust this economy!) I can survived some more cramped living and driving places.
