Well, there's a reason I have comments set to email alerts and have an email notifier; quick responses if need be. Much less interruptive than IM and still pretty close to real time.
And next on my stack is The Difference Engine since it's a library book with a due date. I'm halfway through Warrior Queens and The Seven Basic Plots. Mostly done with Dungeons and Desktops.
I have a tendency of reading several books at a time, because I love nonfiction so much. But the plague of most nonfiction is it's something you have to read in bursts, lest you get bogged down.
