2. Not in the slightest. What really made me want to attempt it was the fact what we know of Iffy is she's motherly; and from what I'd developed of Veld, he seemed like he needed someone that would alternately fuss over him and tease him. So I wrote one story and then decided I owed her some reasoning for why she acted the way she did and why she'd be interested at all in a guy like Veld. I mainly liked the idea of them because of all the fatherly (both failed and successful) themes I based Veld off of and the motherly ones that Iffy is given.
It's probably a fallacy on my part that I always start out a character as an idea and then flesh them out to be a person. But it's worked so far, and been a lot of fun. Not all characters, just the minor ones or original ones of mine. I suppose that helps make it feel more canon sometimes, as all minor characters are just ideas.
