Busy So Some Links!

I'm busy compiling a glossary and starting on making an evaluation metric for the results we get from alpha testing, so I won't have much to say. And if that last bit of the sentence confused you; I have to come up with a viable way to "grade" the performance of kids that play the game in a way that shows whether or not they are actually thinking about things when they play. Since I came up with the scoring system (that was several days staring at Excel, too XD) and the parts rankings, they figured it was natural for me to develop the research instruments (technical term!) for that.
So ah, have the stuff I've been reading the past few days when my brain gets stuck and I need to unstick it:
- We just don't have the resources to make playable male characters in games! Yes, this is satire.
- Successful people are just as insecure as you are, they just learn to get over it.
- Government jobs are opening up all over the place. Like daisies!
- 101 Ways to Cheer Yourself Up I love these lists, because they are inspiring.
- On Being Victimized By a Real Life AOL Chat Perv.
- Wardrobe Refashion shoots down your excuses for not sewing. Kind of apt considering I've gotten used to my newer sewing machine and am tackling the stack of Goodwill shirts I meant to alter.
- Chicks with tattoos are not homewreckers. In fact, they're pretty awesome.
- New Hipster Slur: Fauxhemians. It's kind of clever.
- Gaga, Postmodernism, and Altermodernism. Crunchy thoughts, whose mileage will vary WILDLY depending on who you are.

glass_icarus; The Cost of Art, or when you are being edgy and when you are being a dickweed, an essay.

Date: 2010-04-06 11:58 pm (UTC)Not everyone deals with it, but it's not unheard-of, and I have immense sympathy for people who ALSO feel like they're some demon pretending to be decent. Distorted thinking sucks, most people cope with it, and people who get eaten by it or need a little extra help aren't necessarily 'weak'.
People can pretend it's easy for everyone all they like but that just ain't so, and realistic-minded adults know damn well that it's the case.
I am not weak because I hit a wall. In fact I'm fucking stronger than any swaggerin' dork I have met yet XD Fuck, I know the exact buttons to push to destroy them but I have too much class to do it.
tl;dr mental shit's not easy to push past or get over and only the vastly ignorant pretend it is. I know that ain't what that guy's on about but I've had way too many 'oh just push past it' lectures form well-meaning privileged little laydeeeez and gents who grew up always having a place to hide.
Seriously. Grow up and realize that you are not the default.
OKAY NOW THAT THAT'S OVER WITH the gaming satire rocks every sock in my drawer. XD And the tat thing - god, any woman who doesn't fit some narrowminded dong's definition of femininity is always a homewrecker. It'd be lolarity manifest if it wasn't sad.
The IRL chatroom perv thng is...urgh That's depressingly common and no we don't 'ask for it' when shit happens. People who claim that are asking for me to shred their ego and feed it to Daimaou Chestra or something.
And The Cost of Art was fucking epic as hell.
