An Idea

Real Entry to follow.

Alright, it has occurred to me that I have a lot of writers on my f-list who I've never really read much from. Part of this has to do with The Job, and all the sorts of life rearranging I've been doing, and that couldn't be helped. I attempted to watch some of the fic streams for a while, but let's face it, time is precious, and well, I'm a bit of a canon deviant who gets easily bored with conventional topics.

So, in order to facilitate my understanding of ya'll, think of this as a meme of sorts.

I know we all have stories we'd like people to read. Ones that we spent a lot of time on, and inevitably, no one does, because we either didn't pick the Fandom Sweetheart, or the Pairing Flavor of the Week, or it was Gen or something other Unpopular Thing. So, comment with links to three different stories (keep them to one-shots or chaptered fic under 5 chapters, please), and I promise to read and review at least one of them. Maybe two. Or all of them! Who knows.

And it doesn't matter what fandom. If it's a fandom I don't know, I'll state that in my review and just look at the story itself. Actually, some of the best authors I know can write a fandom I don't know and I'll be able to follow it. If you've got original fiction, even better. Since I dabble in it myself.

A personal study of the college underclassman, female.

Sometimes in my dorm, I feel like someone that is studying some primitive tribe they know nothing about and this tribe is somewhat wary of my intrusion. It's more funny than annoying to be honest. I'm not too far from them in age, but I'd have to say I kind of trump them in life experience for the most part. So that's more of where the divide comes from.

So I had to have my door open for a little while, because of certain cleaning things I was doing this evening (because Friday is the best night to do this, as there are fewer people around and I can get access to certain cleaning supplies). And being the audiophile I am, I was playing music. I think the current playlist has a combination of Nine Inch Nails, Liquid Laughter Lounge Quartet, Abney Park, and some wonderful little group I discovered called Blackalicious (SYO people, this album contains a Cleo song, yeah). Someone down the hall was playing... I think her name is Fergie? I have no idea, actually. I'm a little, ah, behind on the times. Suffice to say, mine did not jive much with the other.

As I was about to shut my door, being done with what I was doing, one of the girls approaches me.

Girl: Hey, I was wondering what you were playing.
Me: Which one?
Girl: All of them. Sounded like several.
Me: *rattles off my artists*
Girl: ...Never heard of any of those. Well, except NIN, my boyfriend likes them.
Me: Do you have an email?
Girl: Yeah.
Me: I'll email you the links of where I got them. Other than NIN. Because most of them have free music up in places.
Girl: Cool! *tells me email*

Contact has been established, some musical taste has been found.
