crankyoldman: "Hermann, you don't have to salute, man." [Pacific Rim] (isshiki)
So, I did a "hey let's learn about college" talk with a bunch of seniors at my old high school (my English teacher/father of a good friend/coach of most of my after school stuff) which meant I got up super early (wtf high school, WHY 7:30 AM?!) and rambled for a good four hours (with lunch in the middle) for his classes. Things I have discovered:

- There is one baby!hipster in the senior class. Before I realized what it would do to his self-esteem, I went "nice Weezer glasses, I looked over and thought 'aww! baby hipster!'" Kid turned red. Sorry kid. But you are a baby hipster, and if you are that ironic at 17, I worry.

- The morning classes wanted to hear the drinking stories more than the afternoon ones. And yes, I told the good ones, including the time I attacked a volleyball net.

- My favorite group asked what was up with my hair. This started the most entertaining exchange.

- They apparently only serve chicken nuggets, weird random I don't know what nuggets they were, some veggies, fruits, juice and milk in the cafeteria. I'm still waiting for the effects of lunch to haunt me.

- Got hit on by a long-haired hippie kid. Why am I such a hippie magnet? I asked him what shampoo he used, because he was a clean hippie and his hair was pretty.

- Two kids stayed after class to talk video games with me. One was an FF7 fanboy of the non-annoying kind.

- I told all of them that Fabreeze does not replace doing laundry. You may laugh, but I cannot begin to tell you how many engineering guys I knew that did not get this.

- Everyone looks so young! I'm really not that old but like, in the face they just LOOK YOUNG. I guess I'm used to scruffy engineering guys?

- My physics teacher is still cool. Like super cool.

- The lunch lady mistook me for a student.

- Not once did I get stopped and told to take off my hat. HAHAHAHAHA!

I also went to the fabric store to get the brocade for my stealth cosplay that [personal profile] whitemage and I are doing at our friend's wedding (I'm Hojo, she's Lu, if Drak comes she's Vin... hey it's trendy to bring your lesbians to weddings didn't you know?) and walked out with five $1 patterns that are CUTE and some fabric to make another vest! It's like old man plaid with some shiny threads in places, making it = me.

I'm very happy with today. And seriously considering going into teaching after I do some more cool stuff in the world, because you know I like explaining things.
