The Saga of Miss Hep

She has been a very good laptop that has had to work doubletime, as when I started working here they didn't have any free computers hanging around--plus, I also was only interning. But now that I have been working full time with a lot of extra hours, and my computer is reaching about 4 years old, it's starting to get quirky in the really annoying sense.
I have gone through several things in order to extend the life of the laptop, and she's not dead yet (and given enough time she should be just fine for home use). And as someone that doesn't want a home desktop (too big and with the amount of moving I've done since college a laptop fits my lifestyle best) I'll be just fine.
But when working, I simply don't have time to screw around with my laptop anymore to get work done.
So I finally asked the tech guy if now there was an available machine. Turns out that yes, there's a PC that only one of the college interns has been using, and not exactly that often. And my HS interns share an identical one nearby in my cube. IT IS NOW MINE. I TRUMP THE ANNOYING COLLEGE INTERN THAT NEVER LISTENS TO ME HA HA HA.
It's shocking how fast this computer is. And I have to say, I think I actually like how Windows 7 does some things, it doesn't feel freaky weird like the couple of times I dealt with Vista (Miss Hep runs XP.... one of the last models of her kind that did).
It's about time I had a dedicated work computer, not one pulling double duty. And it will be nice to not have to lug my (admittedly heavy... I mean, desktop replacement type laptops don't tend to be light) laptop to work everyday. And maybe I will now have time to call Dell and get some shit fixed on it since I still have warranty (like, the fact the tab key doesn't work... I use an external keyboard at home, so I would only miss it at work).
Anyway, that was the excitement of this week, I think the biggest issue with Miss Hep may be a graphics card thing... But at least I can work at work! Now time to optimize Miss Hep without all the work applications weighing her down... perhaps I will get more life out of her yet!
