I was under the impression sparkling was a perquisite of a vampire if they don’t sparkle wouldn’t that make them somewhat sentient ghouls.
The book practically projects its quality from a glance so I’ve been puzzled why people would even bother picking it up if fluff isn’t their thing which is why I kind of feel sorry for author.
