I’m a bit confused would you say most games teach the basics of evolution or at least the RPG section. Sure they use skills more than biology for the most part wouldn’t it still pretty much teach the same lessons you need to get out of the subject unless you’re going into that field of study. Not to say doing it either way is better but to say it hasn't been done before is strange.
I’d say be soft on the kid but then he wouldn’t be getting much of it.
