I don't even mind a prof that refers me to the TA, if it's a large class. I get that. But I pay them. I don't give a fuck what research they'd rather be doing, their priorety should be to TEACH STUDENTS. And I think it's not too much to ask for...

Your profs sound like some of my Humanities professors - they were there in body but never really in mind, and you'd see news around the university about their research and how awesome it was, instead. I remember being really angry - would it have killed my profs to have shown a little of that same passion they showed their research to their undergrads? OBVIOUSLY.
Good luck with him, at least you only have a few classes left. In the meanwhile, keep posting about Vehicle Dynamics. It sounds fascinating even from my layman's knowledge base.
