So I love Fearless Leader, his fiance, and APB a lot. They send me a text last night around 7 telling me to go to the bar, and I'm not going to turn that down, like, ever. Sure, I still have to finish a paper and have an exam tonight, but I'm just recycling an old paper from another class (HEY IT'S A PAPER FOR A MATH CLASS AND I ALREADY WROTE A KICKASS ONE ABOUT HOVERBOARDS) with tweaks, so yeah. As for the exam, I have no earthly idea what he's going to pull on it, so I'm just going to hope I can get a couple questions.

Now that informational meme all the kids have been doing, because I can.

You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when?" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One word answers seldom help anyone out.

FIRST NAME: Elizabeth, though I go by Liz. One syllable is just easier, and my last name is a nightmare for most people to pronounce because it's a translation from a cyrillic type alphabet so I try to give them a break. I was named after St. Elizabeth of Hungary, because my mom is a dreamy sort that used to fill notebooks with name ideas throughout her pregnancies for me and my sister. My middle name actually a part of the saint's story and also starts with the same letter as my mom and sister's middle names. Names are important. Even if the girly poeticness really doesn't fit me at all.

This is probably why I go as Cendri online, which is a reclaimed nickname from a character my ex-husband wrote about (Cendrillo), who was the artist of creating the world in his overblown white male Fundementalist Christian Tolkien-esque fantasy story that I am sure he will never finish writing. And also hope he doesn't, because the last thing the world needs is another white male Fundementalist Christian Tolkien-esque fantasy story. Though he would probably write me as a villain and I could write femmeslash fanfic of myself and whatever his idea of a Good Woman is for it... >D

Hey, it said no one word answers.

AGE: 24, turning 25 in May. I am young for my normal graduating class, but older than most of my undergraduate peers. I still get carded a lot and have been accused of having a fake ID. Probably because my driver's license photo was taken during The Lost Year, and thus I look kind of like a corpse in it and don't now. Oh well.

LOCATION: Indiana. If you're really clever and have been following along, you'll know what school I go to. Hint: it had a lot of astronauts go to it (hence the reason I'm here).

OCCUPATION: Full-time Aerospace Engineering student and educational video game designer. I am more interested in planes than rockets, as rockets are actually kind of boring and unnecessarily complicated by professors.

PARTNER: [livejournal.com profile] drakonlily/[personal profile] novel_machinist who pretty much keeps me sane.

KIDS: I let my friends spawn for me. My mom is now off my case about grandchildren, thanks guys for letting her grandmother your kids by proxy.

BROTHERS/SISTERS: I have a sister that is about to turn 21. She's also evil, brilliant, and works in a lab that studies MRSA and studying microbiology so she can then get a masters/doctorate in zoology and go to places like Anarctica (yes, she really wants to go THERE of all places). Other than looking creepily similar (except she's the hot one) we really aren't alike at all. Not living together has vastly improved our relationship. And I get to be the Nice One. XD

PETS: Valerie the Cactus in Bloom!
A cactus named Valerie. She doesn't look that pretty right now, because it's nearing winter. I've been living in dorms too long to get a moving pet yet.

3-5 THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE:

1. I'm about to graduate college, finally. This means I've been helping design and build a small plane and fretting about math and rocket propulsion and getting lots of annoying, "SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE NOW?" questions from people that don't really know me all that well. I'll do whatever is interesting and keeps me fed, thank you very much.

2. The initial concept for an engineering-based game that I was lead designer on is getting funded and I may need to make a trip back to work before I graduate in order to be in on the meeting with our partners for it. While the other game stuff I've designed has been fun, this is kind of my baby and I'm terribly excited about this.

3. Did I mention I helped design and build a plane? XD

4. Despite having had most of my friends graduate on me already, I actually have a sort of social life. This is weird, since I realize that a lot of people are intimidated by me (which is hilarious, as I'm a wee thing, really) and I have been pretty hardkore into school this semester.

5. I've been mentoring younger female engineers, even if they are know-it-alls that really don't take what I say to heart. I'm sorry girls, it will never be easy and I won't fluff it up to make you feel better. And the speakers you see and talk to that fluff it up are doing you a grave disservice.

PARENTS: My dad's an electrical engineer, and my mom's a stay at home artist, so I had a pretty good and interesting childhood. They're very supportive but also very against sheltering me, and when I became old enough to be an adult and make decisions, they let me make them. I sometimes feel bad about the bad ones I've made, because it had to have been hard for them. I'm closer to my father, because we are quite similar (when my mom is upset with me she calls me "little Joey" as my dad's name is Joe), and anyone that's met him definitely notices this. He's also where I get the gay from (if you believe you can get the gay), as he's bisexual, even if mom and him are happy with each other and I've no worries about him running off with anyone.

Obviously, my parents don't hide much from me at all. XD

CLOSE FRIENDS: Anyone that's known me since before The Lost Year and I still talk to is on this list. Not that any of you I've known after aren't good friends, but it takes years for me to say someone is close.
