In order to not let anxiety work me into a frenzy I'm going to try the Best of 09 challenge. Which I would have started at the beginning of the month had I heard about it before then. XD

So I'm going to catch up with the ones I haven't done so far. Feel free to do it yourself! POSITIVE THINKING. I’ll probably do several others in a clump. As that’s totally allowed in this challenge.

December 1 Trip. What was your best trip in 2009?

OTAKON!!!! Yeah, really. Even if Baltimore is a huge penis, this year’s Otakon was the Best Ever. And I hope next year’s is the Best Ever. A very close second is my weeklong trip to Austin--it’s not number one because it was with my parents and I was limited in my exploration somewhat because of this. I clearly need to do more travel with friends/alone so I can actually go see all I want to see.

December 2 Restaurant moment. Share the best restaurant experience you had this year. Who was there? What made it amazing? What taste stands out in your mind?

That fancy Italian place in Austin that cooked my pasta Carbonara right in front of me and caused a party in my mouth.

December 3 Article. What's an article that you read that blew you away? That you shared with all your friends. That you Delicious'd and reference throughout the year.

Well, just the whole thing surrounding Estee Lauder and their BAD marketing.

December 4 Book. What book - fiction or non - touched you? Where were you when you read it? Have you bought and given away multiple copies?

I read more books last year, and considering how busy this year has been that’s no surprise. So of the two books I read all the way (not counting the one I finished in January), I’d say that there’s a tie between them. Tender is the Night made me cry and love Fitzgerald even more than I already did, but Rose Daughter was smart and tender and sexy in the non-creepy way. So yes. Both. Love. And I read them both mostly during the summer, at lunch during work a lot of the time. Once school starts there’s a surprisingly little amount of time to read something that isn’t quick, like an article. Oh, I did read two nanowrimo fics as well, but I did that over Thanksgiving Break in marathon sessions...

December 5 Night out. Did you have a night out with friends or a loved one that rocked your world? Who was there? What was the highlight of the night?

I thought Halloween was a real blast this year. Not only was my girl there, but I got to be around some fabulous local friends that want to hang even after graduation (several of them actually live in B-town, so). I got to go out dancing, have good food, and do silly things. That is a successful night for me.

December 6 Workshop or conference. Was there a conference or workshop you attended that was especially beneficial? Where was it? What did you learn?

Have only been sent to a couple of these in my life, and I can’t say I enjoy them terribly much. So the fact I didn’t go to any this year was kind of nice.

December 7 Blog find of the year. That gem of a blog you can't believe you didn't know about until this year.

LUXIRARE. Omg, it’s like traveling into a fantasy land in every entry. In less picture porny-ness, Tiger Beatdown. Omg, have such a crush on her.

December 8 Moment of peace. An hour or a day or a week of solitude. What was the quality of your breath? The state of your mind? How did you get there?

I admittedly don’t take time out for peacefulness often enough. The closest I’ve gotten was Movie Time, which is somewhat zen-like for me. XD And that was brought to me by Netflix.

December 9 Challenge. Something that really made you grow this year. That made you go to your edge and then some. What made it the best challenge of the year for you?

Making a plane. XD I really loved it and it kind of brought me to the limit of my health, my brain, my endurance, and I don’t regret a second. Even when I yelled at that dude. Because he deserved it.

December 10 Album of the year. What's rocking your world?

I should say something obscure and musically complex and wonderful, but really, Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster is the album I’ve been looking forward to all year and it doesn’t disappoint. XD

December 11 The best place. A coffee shop? A pub? A retreat center? A cubicle? A nook?

Honeslty, my favorite place this year was the patio of the health food place in B-town. I got my best reading and brainstorming happening there, and ate food that didn’t kill my stomach! YEAH!

December 12 New food. You're now in love with Lebanese food and you didn't even know what it was in January of this year.

Cuban. I’d never had it before and I can say that it is very very tasty stuff.

December 13 What's the best change you made to the place you live?

When I came back in August I changed up my decoration scheme from the semester before and it turned out lovely. Have a sort of Toyko vs. Classic Movies feel to it, which is hardkore. Colorful on one side and mostly black and white on the other. And I know, no pictures. I haven’t had a lot of time to check out a camera or when I was in possession of a camera I kept forgetting. I think that if I don’t keep moving all the time (which part of me hopes I do, I’m actually fond of moving, not just traveling) I’ll have to change up my decorating every 6 months.
