Keep in mind, I am in no way condemning the fans, and that really does help explain a lot of the appeal from the originaltimes. I am probably just overwhelmed with anti-heroic jerkasses, so seeing a 16-bit plucky hero is actually refreshing to me. It's half the reason I adored Sora in Kingdom Hearts. It's a pendulum swing.
