crankyoldman: Claudia's IS the tech support [Warehouse 13] (Claudia tech)

New people! Just updated my personal information post. If you feel lost about what I'm rambling about at anytime, that might help illuminate things.

So, I managed to do a meeting this morning without any visual aids, because I was running a bit late and totally forgot how to log into the meeting as a host. Virtual meetings are hard. But despite this I seem to have roped three, possibly four schools into the spring pilot of using our game. So yay more kids playing the game!

The catch is that two of the schools want to get this started in March.

Now, we didn't have as great of website set up, and half the documentation wasn't finished for the pilot in the fall, but I am still a little nervous. As IT people don't want to talk to me for some reason (really, they seem incapable of telling me what is wrong directly and assume it's the fault of the game. 9 times out of 10, it is not the game). But since I double triple emphasized that they need to come to me ASAP when they have a problem we shouldn't have a repeat of "hey, so, we can't run the game and we're supposed to use it with kids in a couple days" that happened in the fall.

Also, my interns have a big presentation coming up, they are super excited about it. All five of them have game designs, and the two new ones will start with Cendri's Crash Course in Basic Programming after their presentations. Even if they don't end up programming much, I know for a fact that at least messing programming a little before college will help them immensely if they go into the sciences and especially engineering. Yay!

NASA is still making the grant work I'm doing now a pain in the ass.

But the design for the aerospace game is coming along nicely, I can't wait to start prototyping.

I have ordered the starting materials for one of the costumes I'm making for the Avatar: The Last Airbender cosplay group. This costume will be easy, as it's a slightly more adult Toph, so the fit is relaxed and airy and gives me a lot of leeway. Finding breathable fabrics with stretch within the budget was the hardest part so far, but it's been ordered. Yay.

The Teahouse Iroh costume will be a bit more difficult, as I'm going to have to draft the pattern myself or pay $20 for a pattern. Which is ridiculous. Thankfully the outfit is based off of Chinese garments, which are all about straight flowing lines. I also have a top I own already to use as a reference (right shape, but the wearer is a man and I am a pixie-sized girl, so some expanding will be necessary). Considering I did my Auron coat without a pattern I think that this will be fairly easy. Thank god for garments based on rectangles.

Need to order the extensions for my Princess Yue as the Moon Spirit wig, I'm waiting on my next paycheck for that. Holding off researching fabrics until after I draft my Teahouse Iroh pattern and figure out how much fabric I need for that and whether or not I can buy the super awesome bamboo fabric from Fabric Mart or if I have to go with a cotton. My budget for that costume is larger than Toph's so maybe. Maybe not. At least the color will be easier to find that Toph's.

When I ordered the Toph fabric, I also ordered some other stuff to make the order have free shipping, so I picked up some various cotton shirting fabrics, and some silk houndstooth fabric that looked interesting. This will give me no excuse not to sew some of the patterns I've picked up at the $0.99 pattern sales. Since I want summer to happen now, I'm making a couple summery things; a tunic, a couple dresses, and the 1960's Peggy Olsen looking jumper, which will likely be done in that silk houndstooth. After making my awesome complicated vest, dresses are suddenly ridiculously easy.

Speaking of dresses, the one that was my present to my sister for Christmas (I offered my costume dress making services, I didn't have it done) is finally getting started. It's a cute 1960s kind of pattern, and the fabric is a black with white polka dots. I'm trying to get it out of the way so I can start on cosplays and...

...Have decided to use a good amount of the random vintage fabric I inherited for aprons. It takes me about an hour to make an apron now, from cutting the fabric to sewing and ironing it, so I figure I'll make several types and sell them on my etsy to help offset this year's materials costs (since I did just buy a bulk of fabric).

So yeah. If I keep up being energetic after work as opposed to GUHWINTERDEATH then I am very likely to get these projects DONE.

OMG LAST FFIVDS DUNGEON WHY DO YOU KEEP KILLING ME WITH YOUR FUCKING BLUE DRAGONS OF DEATH???

Yeah. Also now that I have a better cord and electronics setup for the tv, I'm going to get back on FFX-2, and have fun dressup times! God, I love this game.

Also, need to order a PS1 card, cause the Gamestop out here is super lame and doesn't carry any. Until I get that done, I can't start on Breath of Fire III until I do. I should use some of my credit card cashback bonus or something for this. Economical!

Craving ICO for some reason, but it's currently being borrowed. Maybe I should start on Fatal Frame II or try and get another ending for Silent Hill II since I'm in a spooky mood (though ICO is a completely different spooky).
