*head scratch* I never got the happy ending where Meryl survives. No matter how many times I played MGS, I could never 'beat' the torture scene (I blame crappy controllers) so I always got the sad ending. But I have looked up a bit of what I missed and everything about Meryl later on in the game just doesn't feel right. Perhaps Kojima was trying to go for how the reality of fighting ended up screwing with Meryl's psyche? I mean, she is pretty young (based on some math I did once for a fic, she's like 17/18 in MGS - unless I screwed up my calculations), which would explain her withdrawal later on. Maybe?
I dunno. I'm not much keen on Meryl/Snake anyway. And Naomi was... I dunno. I felt for her, but at the same time, she annoyed me. =\ Does that make me bad?
Haha, but yes, the final battle with Liquid is ridiculously hard. I only beat it twice (or three times? I use to play MGS A LOT when I was younger) and it sucks. MGS2 is a bit more manageable. Though MGS3 is my absolute fave in terms of both story and fighting bosses.
