I think a lot depends on what got people interested in joining the fandom; Metal Gear fandom is kinda like four or so different fandoms all overlapping in the same general space, and most people care primarily about either MGS2 or MGS3, ie. not where all the Hunter family drama happens. Plus, hey, it's fandom; drama only matters if it could potentially lead to two prettyboys making out. Anyway I would COMPLETELY LOVE to see some plumbing of that fanfic goldmine.
