Meme about books!

I pulled this off of tumblr because I do not get memes where they have questions with numbers and people are supposed to put numbers in your askbox. I'd rather just answer all these.
1. Favorite childhood book? Actually the entire His Dark Materials trilogy. Lyra was the first major female protagonist I ever related to/wanted to be like in earnestness. It was also the first book I read that fell in line with what I was experiencing growing up Catholic (that is, the church was starting to piss me off) in a way that a lot of other fantasy children's authors didn't address or had clearly bought into. Also A Wrinkle in Time which I also identified with a lot. XD
2. What are you reading right now? I have in rotation The Great Gatsby (which is the only F. Scott Fitzgerald book I haven't read), the Oldboy manga, and Love and Rockets
3. What books do you have on request at the library? Afterschool Charisma volumes 4 and 5
4. Bad book habit? I have a tendency to finish books that I hate, despite knowing my life would be better off just not finishing them.
5. What do you currently have checked out at the library? Oldboy volumes 1-4 and Love and Rockets 1
6. Do you have an e-reader? Yes, a nook. But I still also read "real" books.
7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once? I like to have options, depending on where I am and all that, so several at once. If I end up liking one a lot I will plow through it one at a time.
8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog? Yes, I read ebooks and a lot more fantasy than I used to (we broke up for a while between the ages of 14-22) because that's what all my friends online seem to be into. This has admittedly mixed results. XD I've also been reading a shit ton more comics, but that has nothing to do with the internet and everything to do with the library two blocks from my apartment.
9. Least favourite book you read this year (so far)? Preacher: Vol 2 which is the volume that made me give up on the series. The art is terrible and it reads like a list a 12 year old boy would make of "things to shock my parents with". I'm into things that are a little less than ideal, but it was just like a checklist of terrible shit.
10. Favorite book you’ve read this year? Ethan of Athos. Then again I've become a really huge Lois McMaster Bujold fan, and I love that she has this consistent world and shorter books that focus on specific things and lots of adventure hijinks. Now I just need to steel myself to read Cryoburn.
11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone? I'd like to think I challenge my comfort zone pretty often; I'm never just reading sci-fi or classics despite those being my favorites most of the time and frequently will read recced books that I may or may not like.
12. What is your reading comfort zone? Um... books about feelings but not in stupid settings for those feelings I guess?
13. Can you read on the bus? Where do you think I get a lot of reading done. Being car-less has some advantages.
14. Favorite place to read? In crowded restaurants. No really, I get food brought to me, it's not creepy quiet and I don't feel like a complete hermit.
15. What is your policy on book lending? If I've read it, it's fair game to anyone else that wants to read it. This includes ebooks.
16. Do you ever dog-ear books? Hell no. If you don't have a bookmark, find SOMETHING, anything.
17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books? Yes, especially books that give me a lot of feels or just have freaking gorgeous passages that do things to me (like Virginia Woolf, there's a reason I own her stuff in paper books).
18. Not even with text books? I highlight and tag and write all the fuck over textbooks.
19. What is your favourite language to read in? English... I don't know enough of any other language.
20. What makes you love a book? Characters. Whether I love or hate them the author needs to have characters that make me care what they say or do.
21. What will inspire you to recommend a book? Either I hated it so bad that I want someone else to share my pain or I love it so much I want someone to share my love.
22. Favorite genre? Despite my history, I would still have to say sci-fi.
23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did)? Historical fiction. I read more historical non-fiction than I do fiction. I'm kind of picky about it, because I am kind of over most of Western European history and that is the majority of a lot of historical fiction.
24. Favourite biography? The Man Who Knew Too Much: Alan Turing and the Invention of the Computer. Though it's really sad, given how Mr. Turing ended up.
25. Have you ever read a self-help book? Not by choice. I once had to read The Five Love Languages for my pre-marriage counseling, and it was complete and utter tripe.
26. Favourite cookbook? I have like a 365 Way to do Pasta type thing that is in line with what I like to eat.
27. Most inspirational book you’ve read this year (fiction or non-fiction)? Uh... I haven't read much that was "inspirational" this year yet.
28. Favorite reading snack? AN ENTIRE MEAL. I like to read and eat a lot.
29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience. I wouldn't say that the hype for The Hunger Games trilogy ruined it, I just expected way better books.
30. How often do you agree with critics about a book? It really depends on the critic. If they are a typical hetero white dude, we're less likely to agree. XD
31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews? I try not to harsh anyone's squee, but if I didn't like a book, you'll know.
32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you chose? Russian.
33. Most intimidating book you’ve ever read? Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon, because shit is that book long. It didn't turn out to be intimidating at all but I just looked at it and went "how am I ever going to finish this". Answer: read in class during high school!
34. Most intimidating book you’re too nervous to begin? I'm not really too nervous to read any books, I just need to make time and have a desire to read them.
35. Favorite Poet? Rumi.
36. How many books do you usually have checked out of the library at any given time? Since I've been reading a lot of comics, usually five or more.
37. How often have you returned books to the library unread? I've only done that once this year, and typically don't do that at all. And I only did that this year because I gave up on the Preacher series.
38. Favorite fictional character? It's actually a tie between Lyra Silvertongue and Miles Vorkosigan. Dear god, it is a good thing they don't exist in the same universe.
39. Favourite fictional villain? Hannibal Lecter if he counts? I just realized that a lot of my favorite books don't really have villains as much as fucked up people that go one way or another. XD
40. Books I’m most likely to bring on vacation? What's on my nook.
41. The longest I’ve gone without reading. Reading at all? I would say 10 hours, because I was sleeping. Reading for fun and pleasure in a novel sense? Three years, while I was in college.
42. Name a book that you could/would not finish. Atlas Shrugged. I just couldn't.
43. What distracts you easily when you’re reading? The internet.
44. Favorite film adaptation of a novel? Contact and The Silence of the Lambs because Jodie Foster. And I think the Lord of the Rings films were excellent.
45. Most disappointing film adaptation? A Wrinkle in Time and pretty much any Madeleine L'Engle adaptation that Disney has done.
46. The most money I’ve ever spent in the bookstore at one time? A lot ok.
47. How often do you skim a book before reading it? I only read the backs.
48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through? That is makes my eyes bleed from awful and I see no way that it could get better.
49. Do you like to keep your books organized? I keep them on shelves if that's what you mean.
50. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you’ve read them? Depends on the book, really.
51. Are there any books you’ve been avoiding? Well the next couple of big YA series I will probably avoid until I've sufficiently gotten the taste out of my mouth. I need to be in the right mood for them and that will be a while. XD
52. Name a book that made you angry. Mockingjay. wtf was that I don't even.
53. A book you didn’t expect to like but did? Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I freaking loved that book.
54. A book that you expected to like but didn’t? Stranger in a Strange Land though I love the word 'grok' that's about all I got from that book.
55. Favorite guilt-free, pleasure reading? FANFICTION.
1. Favorite childhood book? Actually the entire His Dark Materials trilogy. Lyra was the first major female protagonist I ever related to/wanted to be like in earnestness.
