crankyoldman: "Hermann, you don't have to salute, man." [Pacific Rim] (sommerset world)
I've been kind of busy! And when I've been having free time, I've been doing more passive sorts of things. Like watch stuff on Hulu (I can't stand television cause it requires me to watch on its schedule; Hulu however is much more flexible. and HD). In fact, my worry that I'd have nothing to watch now that BSG is done and there was a big huge hole in my heart from it. But I've had some awesome surprises on that front.

Like Hulu put up the entire (minus a few episodes they're still working out rights issues with in the later seasons) show The Pretender. Which I used to watch before my school schedule got insane in late junior high and high school. Oh Miss Parker. And SYDNEY (no it isn't a surprise I like Sydney, if you know who I'm talking about). And Jarod's still fun. I'm so glad they put that show up for me! Well not for me, but it felt like a present.

But I've really gotten into this show called Kings. Because it's really quite clever and epic. Take the book of Kings from the Bible (you non-JudeoChristian educated folks might know this best as "the book with that David and Goliath story in it"), stick it in a modern setting, don't take out any of the visiony symbolism, and oh yeah shoot it GORGEOUSLY and I'm sold. It's like Shinra meets The Ten Commandments (I like that movie ok?). Hey, even heathens like myself can still enjoy Biblical epics. And of course they changed some things (Jack, the translation of the character Johnathon is not David's best bud, in fact he's pretty antagonistic with him thus far). I'm ridiculously impressed by the Queen, though, as she's powerful and not invisible. Her daughter's pretty cool too. I only mention this because well, in some parts of the Old Testament the womenfolk sort of blend into the background. And having these two characters (hell and David's mom too, who actually takes the dad's name from what I remember) be so visible kind of warms my heart. And I like King Silas (aka Saul) a lot, but I like his irrational powerful craggly type of character nearly automatically. And he is good with the speech-making. Also there's a crazy dude that may be a seer locked away in a prison! THAT IS ALWAYS INTERESTING. And David is fucking adorable right now.

I'm a little worried as it apparently has low ratings, but if they get through a season at least I think I'll be good. XD Man, wherever did my copy of the Bible go anyway? I want to brush up. I always thought there were parts (especially the Old Testament) that would make for interesting television. BE A COOL KID TOO AND START WATCHING. You don't have to be an ex-Catholic like me to get it. Swear. Especially you politic junkies. You know who you are.

And Dollhouse has really started to pick up. November's really hot, though I still keep wanting to call Agent Ballard Helo. >.> It was REALLY jarring cause BSG hadn't ended yet when the show started so I kind of wanted to yell, "CHEATING WHORE" at the actor (hell, the guy that played Romo is ALSO on that show). Then again, I remember seeing Six on Burn Notice and yelling "BUT SHE'S A CYLON" at the TV a few times. Um. Yeah. Dollhouse is fun, and I'm not a super crazy Whedonite (in fact, ah, I really didn't like Buffy that much). Maybe it's the CONSPIRACY WHOA stuff now and the fact Topher is starting to make me think of a white younger Hojo (hardkore Project fans will totally notice it too). And November's hot. Did I mention that?

Yeah, clearly I've been up to a lot if I can babble that much about TV shows.

Oh, and RuPaul's Drag Race ended, with good enough results (my favorite was Nina Flowers... genderfuck ftw, and probably the NICEST one of them). I'm not a MAJOR fan of reality shows but if it involves lots of creativity or TLo blog about it, I'm likely to watch it. XD The entire show is up on Logo's website. I'm kind of a little in love with Logo now, cause they have all the really awesome documentaries about neat stuff like genderqueer and all that.

And drag queens are my heroes. So not kidding. A woman wearing pants is commonplace now. A man in a dress? That takes balls. I salute you, queenies, and would love to go shopping with you.

Commentary on shit eventually. XD So tired!
