Cowboys, Flow, and Other Curiosities

+ I saw a guy that looks like an unshaven Irvine from FF8. It was kind of strange. I want his coat.
+ Finished up the categories on the wordpress, will focus on making pages whenever I get a chance. I have to say, I like this system because it's kind of like tagging and folders at the same time--it nests, but you can have something in more than one category if you need it. Sure, not many of you are close to the level of a datafreak I can be sometimes, so you can ignore that babble. XD But if you wanted to subscribe to it on LJ, here:
viniel_feed. I'll update my "ways to stalk" page which is on the sidebar of my LJ. Also, you could go to my ff_fanlisting page and see what's new.
+ I'm kind of in love with this article a little. Maybe it's because sekritly I pay a lot of attention to graphic design type things (if you've ever seen the types of things I photograph, it becomes clear), but I think it's the whole "strip it down to the basics" thing I like reading about. I mean, I try to trim down the amount of unnecessary crap around me and what I put in my head (which is actually the main reason I don't read newspapers and have an adblock on most websites).
+ Been reading a lot about the Flow phenomenon, and it's kind of been inspiring, not only for my project, but for how I've been doing things with my life and all that. I've tried rather hard to cut down on the amount of time I just aimlessly browse the internet or sit around, and well, it's been working.
Alright, so as you know, I've been reading a lot of stuff on productivity, organization, whatnot. Because going into college, I was an extremely messy person with the attention span of a gnat that also was somewhat lazy. The only reason my laziness didn't show so much in high school was because I had to go to class and I had to go to various activities at certain times. And I worked. I was organized by virtue of simply having no free time.
Well, I got to college, got a computer and that all changed. I had a period where I was organized again (summer of my freshman year) because I had a gov't job and all that, but due to some bad decisions as far as classes (which really was the problem, I've finally admitted to myself what my exact faults were that made me no longer qualified for that program and all that) I went and got even worse. And then the Lost Year happened and well, there's no use talking about that clusterfuck.
But there are two main things I've been especially paying attention to:
1. Focusing on one task at a time (hence why ya'll haven't seen me on messenger as much as I used to be)
2. Not rushing
See, the whole taking slower to do things type philosophy has really been... the best part. Consciously doing things, instead of being a slug. I eat breakfast now, my room is neat (but not perfect, but that's OK), and I've gotten my assignments done EARLY... it's intense. And despite it not seeming like it, I have been writing. Which has been awesome.
So, I'm pretty psyched about this semester!

Date: 2008-01-19 07:37 pm (UTC)I'm an advertising whore (that's actually the main reason I stopped watching ANY TV for a couple years, commercials suck me in so bad), plus, I really dig graphic design.
I suggest walking around a supermarket and checking out all the cool stuff (and sometimes tacky) that they do to try to get you to buy their product.
It's really neat.
