Yesterday was awesomely beautiful outside, so I took a bit of a break with things and slowed down. Wrote in my fabulous journal with Big Ben on it and wrote about randomly people I saw walking around. Wore a skirt. Wore sandals. Got complimented on my color coordination. XD

Then I went to go see History Gast, and well, as usual, we couldn't stay on topic. Or rather, my topic may just include some of the metaphysical weirdness we ended up talking about. He ended up printing off some articles for me (seriously, half the reason I have any sources is coming in to talk to him and him giving them to me. the man's got a ridiculous memory, he can recall names and facts out of no where) and playing a drum that's supposed to be the frequency of human alpha waves (he had some super-old prints with instructions on how to do this). He did however assuage my fears about that midterm I spaced out (I was right on all the stuff I'm usually not and SCREWED UP THE ESSAY WHAT?) because getting an A on this project paper will mean that I can replace that C (yes, even with his curve I got a C) and thus kick ass.

I especially enjoy it when he'll start talking about something, stop, and then tell me not to repeat it to any other school officials, as it is "unscientific and wholly unsupported" and then go on whatever tangent he was on. I may have to come in and visit him next semester and help him with his trance studies, and he always seems very curious about how I process things, as despite my efforts not to be, I'm more of an intuitive person than a logical one. Then again, I suppose he's used to people giving him funny looks when he even mentions what he's studying, so. My family's always had a higher tolerance for strange ideas and alternative interpretations. XD

History Gast also made me realize that this semester I've had the best combination of professors in my entire time at this college. My programming professor has a real passion for what she does and really just wants us to enjoy it with her, my pilot lecture prof really does love flying and gives us as many hints and opportunities as possible and understands is a LOT of information to process (even if I still suck at it and he doesn't send out emails so if you miss a class you miss a lot), my Jersey Highwind finds by hand calculations to be a waste of time and energy when we could be focusing on the actual engineering problem. And History Gast is well, himself. XD

This is probably the first semester that I've felt more treated as a colleague than a student. Probably because I've been here so freaking long (only 4.5 years, actually, but it feels longer) or maybe because I've gained back a little of the ballsiness I used to have in regards to adults. It's strange how quiet and submissive (not in the S&M sense, ha ha) I'd gotten around professors and students alike. Tact doesn't mean just taking everything as it comes, it means just not being an ass about everything. Hopefully I now have a better sense of balance.

Sorry, I just get really reflective at the end of a school year. I was letting myself get into the panic and freakouts on deadlines and forgetting just how ridiculously awesome I have it lately and that I'm not really as dumb as I was led to believe (or rather, let myself believe). Yes, I know it sounds ridiculous, I'm basically studying rocket science and I feel dumb? I guess it can happen anywhere (and dumb is such a relative feeling, stepping outside of my tiny little box of academia really puts things into perspective).

Well, today is see how much of my paper I can get written; History Gast said to just start writing, as he says that seems to work for me on essays (except the last one, ha ha) and he likes my style ("quirky, intelligent, and pulls conclusions from the strangest sources"). I have specifically set aside nearly all of the weekend to work on it, if I don't get much done during the day today, I plan on staying up all night. I slept extra to account for this (besides, I feel BRILLIANT at three am).

Your professors really do sound awesome. One day I'd love for you to explain what History Gast actually does because he sounds particularly interesting.

(but not SOON because I know how evil school can be. Fyi, I find it particularly sadistic that the uni system in the states seems to hold onto you guys FOREVER. I hope you get your summer soon!)

... alright, let's try that again!

You're always brilliant, things just flow smoother at 3am. It's like traffic. And I think professor Gast would be the best pen pal ever. Just sayin.
