I fiddled with my layout a little, going to make my topbar a two column thing of awesome when I get the chance. I couldn't stand the orange and pale blue, so I switched it out with other colors. I sort of took yesterday evening off from doing, well, anything. Which was nice. This weekend is going to be crazy, as I've got something to mail off to the Philippines (who'd have thought I could bookmooch my really annoying environmental book that History Gast made us read for class?), and some boxes and other books to take care of. Vacation last weekend put me behind schedule on my projects, which sucks. When my dad gets back from travel I need to ask him about getting my plane tickets for Otakon. Considering he's willing to pay quite a bit for them I'm not in as much of a panicky hurry. Yay Dad.

Today's lunch was awesome in that my Korean noodle bowl was spicy as usual, but it actually contained FOUR little fishcakes! Usually I get one. Or none. Funny how I hate fish as a food by itself but weird Asian fish-flavored things are kind of tasty. Then again, my main reason for hating fish is the texture--I have a problem with certain food textures. But someone took my Dr. Pepper. :<

I think I may be completely done with the layout for [profile] phoenixmonthly and I'll let ya'll know when we're actually in business. I really missed working on a lit mag (which is way less stressful than a newspaper and contains more hilarity), so hopefully this will satisfy that craving and not make me fail school. XD

I'm glad it's Friday. While work is fun, I really have a bunch of other things I'd like to do (like finish up The Difference Engine). Maybe I'll leave early; while I did take a couple days off I also worked an extra hour and a half between yesterday and Wednesday... might as well make it an even set of hours. Plus I'll be able to mail off my package today. Yeah, totally leaving early.

Linkage:

+ Download NIN's "The Slip" No, really. I've been listening to it a lot lately and hell, if they're giving it away might as well, right? NIN's really grown on me. <3 "Echoplex" is my favorite song on this album. Hell my mom likes that song.

+ For those of you that have problem finding clothes, this is an interesting concept. Admittedly, being small has its advantages, until I want something to form fit. XD But that site looks like a step in the right direction. If you're uncomfortable leaving an address (as I am) it doesn't check to see if the address exists (like some sites). I just made up an address. XD

+ Oh God, Stephanie Meyer is still writing. I like the concept, a bit, but from the eyebleeding experiences with Meyer's other writing, I think that the reviewer was being kind, or possibly getting cash under the table. BAD CHARLIE JANE ANDERS. Also, love triangles are not THAT interesting, particularly if your characters are annoying. Dodecagons, however, are fun. XD

+ Hrm. For some reason my feelings are mixed.

I am so very excited to launch PDM. :D

Also the layout equals TOTAL HOTNESS, and you are freaking amazing for being willing to put it all together. :D

Meyer's new book actually sounds a lot like the plot of the Animorphs series. Like, suspiciously a lot.

I recently read Twilight and it's seriously the worst book I've ever read...what REALLY kills me, though, is that she has the same last name as the German author Kai Meyer, who is one of my favorite YA fantasy novelists.

Well, from what I hear, the Twilight crap was ripped off of something else that did it more elegantly.

Then again, I tend to find vampires overrated. XD

Though you reminded me to look up hilariously annotated quotations I saw a while back. (http://buttfacemakani.livejournal.com/281619.html#cutid1)

Twilight picks up on every vampire romance cliche possible, while the insipid, fawning heroine hearkens back to the worst cliches of ordinary romances. About the only original thing in the book was the bit where vampires can't go out in the sunlight because they SPARKLE, not because they burn up -- an idea which hasn't been used yet mostly because it's fucking stupid.

I don't really like vampires either. I read the book because it was popular in the YA world and it sounded entertainingly bad; I was sort of unprepared for just HOW bad it was.

I thought you enjoyed love triangles.

Twilight started my littlest sister’s current crazy for books with action and a pinch bit of violence in them. For some strange reason she got it into her head it was going to be this neat cool story because all the other girls who tasted she’s questioned before considered it this neat cool story. Though, it brings out the question if you consider your writing horrible bad but people are willing to pay would you still consider doing it.

The phoenix graphics are awesome. It’s neat you didn’t choose any from the same character type, the color variation is pretty.
