My personality type: the dreamy idealist

Not really much to report right now, may have something later I want to discuss. Been reading a shit ton of random things, everything from this set of ghost stories I found, to some things about terraforming to massive amounts of grant report data. It's kind of left my head in a bit of a fog and I have to take periodic breaks because the internet here is still on the fritz. I've figured out that just turning off my network card and turning it back on means it loads faster, but it's still rather annoying. I may need to talk to the IT God and see what the hell is up. Considering all this crazy I may see if I can run and do errands.

Other than that, have a meme. What the hell.

1. Tell me about myself! How would you describe my personality to someone else if you had to?

2. Ask me anything you want to know about me, my life - anything you're curious about.

3. Post this in your own LJ so that I can do the same for you!

You're totally not obligated to post this anywhere, btw.

When will you be done with school? I'm terrible at keeping track of my friends' academic lives.

3. Post this in your own LJ so that I can do the same for you!

Mmmmaybe I will?

2. If I manage not to fail Thermodynamics again and get through Differential Equations II without a hitch I'll be done in Spring of '09. But even if I do suck, '09 seems to be when I'm done no matter what. XD So that's an engineering degree in approximately 6 years, which I've heard isn't too uncommon.

3. I'd totally answer! XD

1. Quite intelligent, and proud of that intelligence - not in a show-offy way, more in a way that says, "hey, I like being smart, so fuck you if you don't like it and let's have a really awesome conversation if you do." Speaking of that, you like to have conversations, which can range from silly to deep in a matter of comments. You also very openly share information about yourself (which I notice mainly because it is something I am not always good at) - you're very good at knowing yourself and what you need to do to either get something done or stay sane. An engineer, but you don't like labels. I wish we lived closer so we could go out and have beer and comment on people's shoes, but alas, the world might explode.

2. Can we have a smoke? What is your absolute favorite thing to drink out at the bar?

1. It would be awesome. I'm probably going to end up living in Ohio eventually because it sucks up everyone in my family, so who knows. XD

2. Hrm. I usually just get a beer because I'm cheap and it's usually Killian's because I hate pale beers... but really the thing I like to drink because it looks classy and has hard enough liquer is a Marilyn Monroe (http://www.drinkswap.com/drinks/detail.asp?recipe_id=5073).

That's about as frilly as I get, because generally Sex and the City-esque cocktails and the girls attached to them annoy the piss out of me. XD

Yeah and Cosmos taste like shit anyway. My favorite frat party I went to was held at the engineering frat and I got in because I knew all the computer graphics kids (don't ask me how that makes sense, other than most of the engineers in said frat were Mechanical). But it was a James Bond theme party and naturally all the girls dressed up like Bond girls (true fact: I always dressed like a girly girl to frat parties because it was like I was a different person there, I didn't even wear glasses. Probably because it felt like cosplay or something. XD).

But they had a nice selection of cocktails and while the standard Vodka Martini was a bit dry I did like the drink in question. And Drak and I found this lesbian gay bar in Columbus that makes them (the place is NICE, it's so clean and the waitresses are cute).

TMI or something. I really worry that I disclose TOO much information sometimes, but it's how I relate to people easiest--I extend out an olive branch of complete disclosure and they usually relax more. I think. XD

For me it's also a health thing. Not that drinking is THE EPITOME OF HEALTH but I'd so much rather drink a simple mixed drink, or a beer, or a glass of wine, rather than something loaded down with 90,000g of sugar. (Note: sugary drinks also knock my pseudo-diabetic ass out, not in the drunk way either. You'll note the chocolate martinis at Ohayocon, while sweet, were made with alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, and ...booze.)

And your James Bond-themed party may have seriously just become the theme to our usual epic summer party. We've been looking for an idea that was better than "cross dressing" (where by better i mean more people would actually do it). (To which you and Drak are both invited, of course. Come meet my cat!!)

I tend to do the same thing, at least online. In real life I find it pretty hard to talk about myself (which is funny! BECAUSE I WON'T SHUT UP ON THE INTERNETS) but with people online where you don't have the face-to-face thing it's often easier to connect by relating something of yourself.

Ahahahaha. Yeah. Sugar is overrated; I like the bitter taste of alcohol. But then, I was kind of heading towards alcoholism for a while (but it's totally ok for me to drink, I just had to tell myself that drinking all the time was not ok... seriously, I do not get people that have addictions, you can pull yourself out of anything if you're firm enough).

Dude, that sounds awesome. Depending on what's going on around then, I might be able to go. I just don't own my own car and am still a little traumatized about driving on Ohio highways. XD

And I sometimes talk like this in RL, depends on the company. The movie theater crowd prolly knew the most about me compared to my other HS friends, oddly enough.

We have a lot of summer birthdays and other random things to celebrate, so usually we do a blow-out cookout with a metric assload of beer and invariably some sort of punch that ends up with moonshine in it.

It would be awesome if you guys could come.

1.I would say your intelligent and well read person who has several different tastes and enjoys expanding on them, you have a sense of humor with the right amount of dry and morbid style to it for it to be fun, you ponder topics many people do but with your own twist on them, and you have several ironic contradictions to you which maybe an offshoot of your humor. Your story output also implies you have a sense of work ethic or the equivalent.

2. I will once again ask something silly as you’ve said enough about the serious aspects of your life. Did you have an well fleshed out background on Ifalna before you started pairing her with Veld? ;p

2. Not in the slightest. What really made me want to attempt it was the fact what we know of Iffy is she's motherly; and from what I'd developed of Veld, he seemed like he needed someone that would alternately fuss over him and tease him. So I wrote one story and then decided I owed her some reasoning for why she acted the way she did and why she'd be interested at all in a guy like Veld. I mainly liked the idea of them because of all the fatherly (both failed and successful) themes I based Veld off of and the motherly ones that Iffy is given.

It's probably a fallacy on my part that I always start out a character as an idea and then flesh them out to be a person. But it's worked so far, and been a lot of fun. Not all characters, just the minor ones or original ones of mine. I suppose that helps make it feel more canon sometimes, as all minor characters are just ideas.

Perky, Quirky, and sometimes a bit prickly. Always rather endearing.

2. Ask me anything you want to know about me, my life - anything you're curious about.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
