THE FINAL DAY OF WORK

crankyoldmanAlright, I feel bad for bitching about work lately--I guess I was stuck as the one person not taking vacation at a certain time, so I ended up with a lot of work dumped on my lap. The organization appears to be better now, and at the very least, I know I'm appreciated. Minions bought me lunch, and when I came into work there were a couple things on my desk; a card (with giftcard, ILU Boss #1), and really beat up white fedora with "Holy Knight's helm of +5 to slap-a-ho" written on a post-it in front of it. Minions are fuzzy, and hilarious. There was various warnings about Dracula also written in my card.
Goddammit, now I'm going to miss work. I guess that's what makes a job a job--if it were wonderful all the time, then it'd be something else. Still, the good outweighs the bad, even if the bad seemed to pile up in the last couple of weeks. Oh well. C'est la vie. At least I got everything done that needed to be done and all together. I guess perhaps I was giving myself an ulcer unnecessarily; talking with Education Minion (a different minion from my usual two) I figured out he'd gotten a lot of stuff randomly thrown at him too, and that a majority of it wasn't read. So I could have had that to contend with (it was his first semester, I have a fair amount of work here under my belt). Where I go after graduation SHOULD be here (because I believe in a lot of what they're doing, despite the bumps) but there are a couple things I'm on the lookout for. Like something out of this state (I've been in Indiana long enough, one of the good things about my last Real Job was that it was not in Indiana!). But that's thinking too far ahead.
Hell, especially if we end up working with that one Lunar X Prize team, I'm DEFINITELY staying here (it's just in the talking stages... but that kind of gets me excited). Work's just very personal, I suppose. Maybe I need to be less of a workaholic. XD
Speaking of workaholic, was this article ever apt. Sometimes my feed reader scares me with its ability to throw things at me just when I need them. Though, what do I do with the time I save? Start another hobby. Ha. Yeah. At least it's FUN work.
Today I'm mailed off packages forprotect_vester and taekwonangel. ^^ I kind of love sending packages, and it's just what I needed to give myself an excuse to walk around town in the big red hat I'm wearing today (it's something I recovered and fixed from my mom's 80s Collection of Doom). Also an excuse to walk around and not pack (since I've actually got not much work today, considering I freaked out earlier this week because I almost had to move in TODAY... yeah). I'll put up pictures of the earrings I made Vester after she gets them, as she should get first glimpse. Suffice to say, I think they're cute. I hope she does. I also hope the mail people don't break into it, so.
