- Ugh, can't the Terra figure be in the first set? Damn toymakers.
- Paper done!
- Lab report not done!
- Will get lab report done, since I'm old hat at this!
- Today's costume: Trinity (since I can wear it under a bigger coat and be warm BRRRRR!)
- Interviewed meme, as asked by
irish_ais!
1. What is your favorite fashion trend overall?
Hats, in general. I always like it when hats are "in" because that means they'll be out in a while and I can nab them on sale. Plus, antique stores. I get most of my hats from old ladies. Though, really nice jackets are probably my second favorite trend, whenever they started tailoring them to fit women but not too sexatary is when things were awesome.
2. What was the first book you ever read?
It was a Doctor Seuss book, I know that much. I was like, four, it was a looong time ago. XD I know my first OMG FAVORITE book was "Favorite Greek Myths" as compiled by Mary Pope Obsborn. They're edited for kids, but the illustrations are gorgeous. I still have that book.
3. How did you andKas Drak first meet? (I AM SO CURIOUS).
In person? She came by for Halloween like, a couple years ago? Fuck if I remember exactly when, but I was really excited about it, I remember and we got free drinks from some guys. But you know "met" first time evar, omg... on a forum. Because I'd been invited by some psycho kid that was obsessed with her (no, really, he was). I had apparently been stalking her fanfic and hadn't realized it was HER, but I remember thinking, "this sounds like an interesting person to meet, they put LITERARY REFERENCES in the middle of freaking fanfiction and not just Shakespeare or Oscar Wilde". Said forum had challenge nights and that meant group IM and that's how we met. Because she was unemployed and bored and I had a crappy roommate and spent most of my time on the wireless network of a couple of friends of mine. It's not really epic, it's kind of silly and lame and full of strange coincidences.
4. What inspired you into engineering?
First, I wanted to be an astronaut and that happened because my parents were always sneakily getting my sister and I into sciencey things, and I had a mild interest in astronomy and they decided one Spring Break to pack my sister and I into a car and go to Alabama. Because Huntsville had (has?) a Space Camp and they had rockets. Only my parents told me that we were going to a fish hatchery and well, I hate fish (unless it's raw, hell if that makes ANY sense) so I was pouting and reading my book the whole way and then my sister was like, "HEY ISN'T THAT A ROCKET" and it was really kind of magical and all that. But unlike most kids that grow out of that and go and become practical things, I was like, "well, hey, I'LL BE ONE OF THE SMART DUDES THEY CALL UP IF SHIT GOES WRONG". I think I was ten or so when I decided to be an engineer instead of an astronaut (which I decided when I was eight). And yes, I went to Space Camp. I saved up all my birthday money for that for a long while to go. It was basically awesome, I want to go again.
Honestly, it's half the reason I sort of want to go to my high school reunion, because for some weird reason, despite setbacks, I haven't really changed my dreams, just colored them in a little more. I realize this is probably unusual for most people (besides artists, I've noticed). My sister's the same way, though. Maybe we're just stubborn or something.
5. What brought about your LJ name?
Ha, ok, this is really super lame. Originally this journal was just a writing journal. A super-secret writing journal because my ex-husband was reading my other one. You may say, "BUT WHAT WERE YOU HIDING, WAS IT PORN?" and the answer is no, not really. He never asked to see my stories, just got onto my computer and started looking for things and I like privacy. When we split I didn't want to make it easy for him to e-stalk me, so I just kept this one. The bad latin was inspired by how he said I was "poisoning the air with my thoughts and words" once. So, now you know.
