crankyoldmanI'm not clever enough for those anyway. XD I've been using up my clever writing and singing songs! ...I'm not kidding. And me and the gang are more physical types of pranksters.
How this all started iscapslock_ff was having a contest. My first thought was an elaborate thing involve me wearing my really terrible wizard beard and kicking it Sagemaster Tellah style, but ah, I sort of got my wisdom teeth taken out over break. And there's nothing quite like the shame and hilarity due to the shame of me singing. Particularly at 3 am alone in my dorm. And one of the themes was "Ninjas Just Wanna Have Fun" so I was listening to my FF musics for inspiration and well... I realized the piano collections have some pretty clear melodies. And I listened to a lot of Ben Folds in junior high. Plus my sister and I always used to rewrite the lyrics of songs a lot and sing them while doing dishes and stuff ("Oops I Did It Again, I Ate All the Chicken" being a family favorite) and I kind of always had lyrics in my head to a lot of my favorites (like J-E-N-O-V-A... more on that later).
So I recorded "The Ninja Song", which includes references to Yuffie of VII, Edge of IV, and Shadow of VI. Cause they're ninjas. Mostly. Set to "Descendant of Shinobi" no, that's not me playing piano. I wish.
Yeah Ninjas, you know they just wanna have fun
And you know, they don't wanna hurt anyone
Maybe Yuffie stole all your stuff
And Edge really thinks he's tough
Maybe Shadow's dog went and bit you on the ass
They got class.
When the ninjas are a playin

You're not seen or heard
Yeah that's how, they boogee down.
Yeah Ninjas you know that they're really neat
And they can be fast and quick on their feet
Maybe Edge wants to get in your pants
And opera seems to give Shadow cramps
Maybe Yuffie's selling porn on the internet
They're all set.
When the ninjas are a playin
All the people they keep sayin
That when you're really good
You're not seen or heard
Yeah that's how, they boogee
Wow that thing came really close to my ear
I'm getting scared now.
With ninjas, you really gotta learn to watch your back
Cause they're primed waiting and ready to attack
This is actually the second version, because I had my computer mic (which is just a hole in my laptop, I've learned) up too high, and I know the last verse doesn't synch. I just got tired around then. XD But suffice to say I learned a little more about editing and timing!
So the song "Blue Fields" from FFVIII was actually my favorite from that game in the non-fight song sense and I think I prolly have about three versions of lyrics for it, from serious and pretty (aka: something I'd get someone else to sing) to well, ridiculous. And after I got a awesome dramatic reading of a spoof play I wrote well, I knew I had to do something forlunatic_discord.
The end result was "Blue Fields B-Side", which is linked and lyric-ed up at the comm itself.
Somehow I managed a porn joke in both songs. Huh. The verse with references to patricide is obviously a sly reference to the working relationship of Squall and Laguna, "tranny bitch" is something our fabulous Kiros said, "the rod" isSev's Raijin's fault,

drakonlily's help on this, as I need dialogue and someone that sounds more feminine than me to do Lucrecia's voice in a certain section and she also owns a microphone. Like an actual one. Since I've got the confidence now for public humiliation enough, I've finally got the excuse to finish up the lyrics and record my lyrical version of J-E-N-O-V-A which is my favorite FF song of all time. I mean, I've had the opening lyrics since forever ago:
Hail all hail to the mighty eyeboob!
Yes your gods can come from a tube!
...Yeah. Seeing Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog certainly did not help with discouraging me from this idea.

- I have Hybrid's "I Choose Noise" album FINALLY. AND IT IS AMAZING.
- Zombie High Heels of Awesome.
- The guest blogger on BoingBoing has been linking me to fantastic little known music. Like David Bowie's much gayer cousin Jobriath and an awesomely inappropriately named female punk band called Snatch. WHAT NEXT AWESOME GUY?
- My Sidekick gave me the tiniest cutest little pink USB drive that I am compelled to name Aeris. So cute and 2 Gig! I put it ona string of beads so I don't lose it.
- And paintings done off of T.S. Eliot references can be really freaking gorgeous.
