So, I've been up to stuff. Am now acquainted with my new sewing machine Peggy (not that Effy is any less of an awesome machine of course) and enjoying all the new stitches I can do on it! I am nearly done with one of my shirt alterings (I started with an XL women's shirt and cut it down to my size), just finishing off the seams with this nifty straight+zigzag stitch that mimicks serging (it isn't quite that, but it is as close as I'm going to get without a serger). Going to tackle the lovely green men's shirt next.
Am completely off my exercise routine and need to get back on it. Today is pretty, maybe I'll go for a bike ride.
Also, I totally started Obsolescencepublicly f-locked. This is my
originalbigbang claim, so about 8500 words to go! I'm going to try to post only things that go in order, that way anyone sort of following along won't get confused. No obligation, of course.
I think I've decided to do a Shera story for
femgenficathon, because while I do adore Cid something fierce, I've always wanted to do more with Shera. Nevermind, I have a BIGGER idea, cause that is a big prompt. My quote prompt is:
"Come on, let's wake up, and claim back our freedom, and the honor and
dignity that they have usurped from us for so long." -- Moderata Fonte
(Modesta Pozzo) (1555 - 1592), Venetian protofeminist and author of
chivalric romance, narrative religious poetry, and dramatic dialogues.
Which is basically awesome.
- What I Wore on Easter. I link because I feel lazy today. I was lazy on Easter too, having no church that I had to attend or anything. It was nice.
- Learn Your Motherfuckin' Science with ICP Yes, I'm serious.
- Greenwashing. Or how companies get around this green "trend" with clever marketing and not doing much really.
- The Mary Sue Project. A teacher that uses self-insert to teach kids how to analyze stories. Very awesome!
- Swagger 360's Making of a Gentleman. So what say you, men-folk?
- Roundtable Discussion: Fashion in Academia. Academicchic does more awesome.
- John Scalzi is publishing fanfiction! No really.
- We don't care about Freddie's [BONERS]. Or how Tiger Beatdown wittily explains that feminism isn't hating on dudes, it's hating on dude's privilege. There's several entries on this, but this is kind of like, the the summary entry.
