This includes anime. An entirely different beast from movies, so yeah.

Noir
An anime I'd been meaning to see for a while. Complete mindfuck, completely female-centric (and unlike harem animes, there's not a guy they're all orbiting around, this was refreshing), and has some really really awesome music. The style is clean and the story is very intriguing! It's a little violent (as the main characters are assassins) so if you're turned off by violence, you won't like this. But it's not like spewing blood Fist of the North Star or anything, so I wouldn't suggest it if the IDEA of violence bothers you more.

Also, I desperately want to cosplay Althena now.

The IT Crowd

I cannot get over how hilarious this series is. It's funny because it's got a measure of truth. XD This is a British series about the IT department of some random megacorporation, following this new manager chick as she's assigned to be the manager of IT--despite knowing nothing about computers. Shenanigans ensue. It's on instant on Netflix, if you have that, WHY ARE YOU NOT WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW.

Skins

Another British series, this time a teen dramady that my sister recommended to me. Um, wow, I really got into this more than I thought I would. While the show tends to revolve around things that Tony and Michelle are doing, it does a wonderful job of giving each of the characters their own episodes and focuses. Hits on a lot of Afterschool Special types of issues without it being forced. My favorite character was Cassie, because she was adorable and messed up. XD Really outdoes any American teen show I've seen, with the exception of like, My So-Called Life. And like most British series, is blissfully short. I haven't seen Seasons 3 and 4 though, because it's a completely different cast and I loved the original cast so much that I am hesitant. XD

Metrosexuality

Again, British, though much more like what we'd called a mini-series around here. A wonderfully varied cast, very colorful show full of happy candy colored clothing, and generally just made me smile. Ensemble cast, slice-of-life, but manages to not be a soap opera. It's really hard to describe... it's just awesome ok?

30 Rock

Son, I am disappoint. I gave this show the first season, because it wasn't AWFUL, but I was waiting on it to I don't know, get good? Tina Fey, you are a funny lady, why does your show have so much NOT funny in it? I got the parts that were satirical, but others... suffice to say, I couldn't stand most of the characters that got the focus (but loved several of the side characters), found lots of parts distinctly unfunny and was generally left feeling 'meh'. Do not recommend.

Caprica

Son, I am impress. I love the characters. I love the crazy shit going on. I REALLY love seeing the society that led up to the Cylon invasion and all the crazy that is Battlestar Galactica. I love love LOVE Daniel Greystone (you psycho! <3) and pretty much the entire Adama family (ESPECIALLY YOU BAD INFLUENCE UNCLE). I was skeptical, because I loved BSG so much, but this has really been a good show and I can't wait for more. I've been keeping up on Hulu with this, so I don't know about netflix availability yet. Also, I really adore the intro sequence, it's Very Full of Symbolism and I like that shit.

This American Life Season 1

Love. Just... love. Really no way to describe this, just watch it.

Bones

So yeah, I just started watching this. I know, I'm a million years behind on TV. I like it this way, to be honest, because TV is something I like to watch at my own pace, and with the exception of certain shows, I don't like to wait on stuff every week. Now that that's out of the way, I am extremely fond of this show. I was feeling a gap in my need for crime procedural shows, and nothing was filling it. Well, now I have something (and I think up to Season 4 is on netflix instant? FUCK YEAH). The cast is very likeable (and mostly socially awkward nerds), the cases are interesting, and there's enough gross. Yeah, I like a little gross in my crime shows. This gross may be a turnoff to some (and I don't suggest watching it while eating XD) but if you can get over that, I highly recommend it. I mean, how fucking awesome is Dr. Temperance Brennan?

Also been rewatching shows I'd seen part or all of but it has been a while:

- Dead Like Me (still awesome)
- Sliders (thankfully they only have the first two seasons up)
- Arrested Development (still funny)
- Leverage (heeeeart)

NOIR. IS. AMAZING.

The only other anime I can think of that's remotely similar to it is CANAAN (again, female centric, no forced romance among the main women).

But JESUS man. XD

I'd cosplay Chloe.
