Sewing and Cosplay Week: Supplies

So I actually made a video for this post! I might make videos for some of the others, as things that I describe are sometimes easier to show that way. I think I may do a small project to demo some of the things to do when approaching patterns.
And here's another video that says a lot of the same things, but is better edited and less full of inherited vintage-y things. Though I disagree with her using an X-Acto knife instead of a seam ripper (you could easily cut yourself or parts of the fabric you don't want to cut... seam rippers are much safer, imo).
Also, the first of my videogame fashion sets... Final Fantasy IV! All lady clothes, but a couple of them are tomboyish and could be translated into men's looks.
Rydia
Rydia is easy due to her distinctive color. I focused on some main elements, and happened to stumble upon a tunic/dress that actually mimics her outfit quite well. When stealthily cosplaying, remember to break up the green a little, like with the tights, which are more yellow.
Rosa
Translating Rosa's lingerie-eriffic costume into normal clothes took a while. I found this awesome long vest which is kind of like a cape, and a wrap style skirt that imitates her weird hip wrap thing. Soft colors and feminine lace details are probably the best way to pull off a Rosa look, imo.
Cecil
So, I want this outfit. Instead of going for white, I decided to go for a light gray, as it's more versatile and reminds me of what his armor would probably look like after battling teh ebil and whatnot. Structured clothes best echo the feel of armor, as well.
Kain
Kain's look could either be really goth, or really rock and roll, and I went with the latter. Though goth works too. A hat is important, and a tee-shirt with a dragon and warrior is just kind of cute.
Palom and Porom
I wanted to keep their color scheme and stripes, but I wanted to go with one look that was more girly, and one that was more boyish (well glam boyish >.>). Orange and green work really well together if you use the right tones.
Edward
I went a little more costume-y with this one because Edward calls for drama. Instead of harem pants, though, maybe some normal jeans would be the way to go. XD And bards love feathered hats.
Tellah
I love Tellah. I couldn't find polka dot pants, but a crazy Amano-esque pattern is good enough. And a pimp coat. The key is the glasses.
