Did some things. This has been sitting as a draft for a while, getting it out.

Went to a pirate themed party on Saturday, at a place that was right along the fantastic rail trail we have in this town (this town is SO bike friendly, and this used to be train tracks and is finally all the way open now). Verdict? I still can't stand hipster nerds, but there are enough people to talk to at these things and enough beer that I don't feel completely weird at them. And since I biked there I didn't have to stay up all night there and left when I felt I'd had enough people.

Sunday I spent avoiding the internet and ended up walking over to the comic book store and bought several things. Since [personal profile] finch gave me I Kill Giants #1 and I happened to see the entire run in a book for half off, I got it. I read it immediately and cried. But it was a good cry. I think I'm gonna look up more of the writer's non-mainstream works now, also the artist was great. And I got Volume 10 of Fables, which was both good and bad (love Flycatcher as a character because he's a sweetheart, but the Jesus/Arthur check-out-how-Judeo-Christian-we-are plotline was a little bland tasting to me, and kind of reminds me how I'd rather hear more about how the Fables are living as individuals instead of the Big Damn War. Best part was the mini-story about the Bigby/Snow wolf pack, who I miss not being so much in the main storylines anymore). Also Frau Totenkinder = win, I kind of love how she's the ultimate chessmaster, if the war were just her and the Adversary being puppeteers at each other, I'd love that. And I know that I am far behind, I am a very slow collector. Also got a half off of the first Chew collection, since I'd been given some issues of that and was rounding it out. Also half off. I've noticed there are far less toys in the shop now, which is a little sad, because I like toys. But if that means more of the indie comics, I can't complain too much.

Girl at counter was cute, too.

Saving Chew for this weekend, when I'm with Ladyfriend. As it intersects both of our interests (her wonderfully sick sense of humor, my omgstraightlaceddetective fascination).

I also finally sewed my curtains, which were safety pinned to my curtain rod since I got them, as raw fabric. They look very lush. Gonna cut them in middle (to make in effect two curtains instead of one giant one) and add more tabs, though, but at least they're not safety pinned anymore. Yes, my window is huge, this is why I didn't bother buying curtains and just made my own. Converted commercial spaces come with high ceilings and large windows, take note.

I read the first issue of Chew when it first came out and keep thinking of picking up the collection and trying to get into it. It's a wonderfully twisted concept and I've heard good things about it. If you think of it and have the time once you've read it, I'd be curious what you (and your ladyfriend) think.
