Good Timing
Oct. 17th, 2011 04:22 pmOh lord, is it ever good timing that I am gonna be out of work (and town!) for most of a week. There's all sorts of things I should be doing, but I am admittedly having issues keeping my sleep schedule under control (to give you a sample, on Saturday I woke up at 5:30 am with utterly no reason and I couldn't fall asleep until 5:00 am this morning). And well, once my sleep schedule is out of whack, frankly everything gets a little out of whack.
Though I did get a nice break on Saturday night; suddenly there was a Janelle Monae show. Now if I haven't flailed at you enough about Janelle Monae, let me jog your memory:

Yeah.
Keep in mind, I found out about this show on Wednesday. With advertised $10 tickets on Thursday. And this woman is seriously ALL ENERGY. I didn't even mind sitting through two opening acts with 20 min setup times in between because SHE. IS. AMAZING. LIVE. Since "Cold War" is the song that is my favorite and I have a particular emotional connection to I just... yeah. There was NO sitting during her set, and ArchOrchestra has some cool dudes who know their stuff... I could go on for a while. She's the kind of performer that starts out all prim and done up and ends up with her hair all over the place, her tie missing and still going like she could keep it up all night. Just fabulous.
I was very disappoint that the house wasn't packed. But not at the same time, because I didn't have to get up in anyone's space.
Anyway, yet another reason I love living downtown (took me 7 minutes to bike to the auditorium, hells yeah). And why I'm not taking myself off the auditorium email list because wow, that was SOME GOOD TIMING.
