My Birthday Gift to All of You
May. 5th, 2011 05:19 pmThere was some pretty fun commenting shenanigans on facebook due to birthday wishes yesterday, so this resulted.
If you must know one thing about me, it is that I have a bit of an obsession with 80s and 90s teen movies. And I sort of marathon them on my birthday. Eventually, I will own ALL my favorites (on DVD... I have a fair bit on VHS that I like taped off of TV back in the day).
An 80s Teen Movie Clip Mix
1. Happy Birthday - Had to use a cover band, but my association with this song is actually Anthony Michael Hall singing it in Sixteen Candles and immediately following it up with Hey Jude. I guess I can admit I've watched this movie on my birthday since I was 12?
2. Real Wild Child (Wild One) - Yes, this was in the opening of Pretty Woman, but it was also in Adventures in Babysitting, which I happen to consider a teen movie and also awesome. THOR'S HAMMER YEAH.
3. Weird Science - Obvious. Honestly if you don't know this one I'm not sure we can be friends. (unless you're British or Canadian or something then you have a pass)
4. Oh Yeah - FERRIS BUELLER.
5. Don't You Forget About Me - The Breakfast Club. I'd say we can't be friends if you didn't know this one too but I'm going to be nice.
6. The Hardest Walk - Some Kind of Wonderful. So, not many people I know have seen this movie (or um, OWN IT like I do), and I wanted to use a different song (the badass intro song that Watts is drumming to) but this one I was able to find on mixibits.
7. If You Leave - Pretty in Pink. Oddly enough NOT an influence on my style.
8. Stripped - Say Anything. I wanted to use "In Your Eyes" because I love Peter Gabriel, but my search yielded naught. And Depeche Mode was integral to my goth phase.
9. Love My Way - Valley Girl. I mostly liked this movie because there were boobs in it. And in the 80s, boobs were real.
10. Que Sera, Sera - Heathers. If there is any 80s teen movie you should watch IT WOULD BE THIS ONE. This is actually the credits version. I REALLY wanted to use Teenage Suicide (Don't Do It) but that song apparently doesn't exist in this database. Sadface.
