Sleeeep is good.
Apr. 10th, 2008 01:14 pmHilarious word smoosh of the month: lezebel. I might have to use that sometime.
Spent today catching up on sleep, skipped my one class. Should feel guilty, but I don't. Besides, I know what the reading is and already read through some of it. Today's plans involve more laundry, as I suddenly realized I just about am out of clean towels.
I managed to start repairing bits of the steampunk!Edea dress yesterday, as I couldn't concentrate on anything that involved words after that exam. Fixed a hole in the skirt and had to cut out the lining in one of the sleeves because something tore that to ribbons. I'm betting someone had a cat, because I know cuts like that. Am continually amazed by the structure of the garment. The stitches are so even and small--the maker knew how to use those old clunky sewing machines well. I may need some interfacing for parts, just to make sure it's strong. I also might actually be too wide around the waist, so I'll have to figure out a way to expand it or get some good shapewear. Hard to tell at this point. Definitely going to replace the lace on the bottom with feathers (because it's EDEA) because that'll look awesome and the lace didn't survive too well anyway. Have a couple ideas in regards to that, just glad I had to time sit down and do more than assess.
To do list is huge today, because I have time. We'll see how that goes. XD
Linkage:
- This man is my new hero.
- xkcd blag is always good.
- This notebook also fascinates me.

Date: 2008-04-10 05:39 pm (UTC)And I love your Edea project! FYI, I know this is a 'Cendri is doing it on her own' project but, should it be necessary, a good seamstress can take out a dress pretty easily (i.e. make it wider around the waist). I once had that done for a dress I bought in grade eight so that I could wear it again in my late teens (because between point A and B I grew hips. XD). If you don't want to be stuck wearing a corset, I suggest you think about doing something like that.

Date: 2008-04-10 07:05 pm (UTC)Feathers certain sound like a nice touch. If you’re wearing a lady’s hat with it will they be matching feathers?
Also that guy in the link has an awesome work outfit. He looks more professional than some of his colleges.

Date: 2008-04-11 05:14 am (UTC)I am hiding the side with the ripped bodice seam in the picture with me wearing it. Putting the dress on was risky at that point, but I was impatient. Now at least a sleeve and the train will hold up!
