cosplay shenanigans and my mom has a wii

So I looked at my cosplay list for Otakon. And ha, it's going to be awesome. I <3 putting FF things in strange eras. Behold.
- Steampunk!Edea (late 1800s dress, with various mechanically-inspired additions)
- Gangster!Veld (well, a Turk, but if I'm going Turk, I might as well put a scar on my cheek and wear something 20s/30s like this and scowl)
- Hip-Hop!Tellah (SAGEMASTER TELLAH IN DA HOUSE... Santa beard + huge loud clothes + grandma's bling? = awesome. Think 90s.)
- and Amano!Terra (which isn't actually a reinvention, but it's a pretty costume and I worked hard on the props, though I am half tempted to do an 80s rendition of it sometime, cause it wouldn't be a stretch. Side ponytail anyone?)
3/4 costumes are either throwing things together or already made (though I still should fix a couple things on my Terra costume). And the Edea one has most of the tedious work done (seriously, the amount of patching I had to do would drive a normal person insane... I found it soothing). Wings may not get made, depends on whether or not my mom is busy (because she wants to make them, it's her contribution). Since my mom LOVES her Wii, the chances are less. But I still have an AWESOME HAT and some other accessories to work on.
So, here's my To Do, which I SHOULD START WORKING ON TONIGHT and will probably go on up until August. AUGUST IS APPROACHING FAST OMG I AM EXCITED.
For myself:
Edea
- Sew bias tape on the other side of the waist cincher, hopefully in less tries that the first side (when I mean side, I mean left or right on the cincher). Remember to put the longer side of tape in the back and to start on the straight part to warm up the sewing machine engine. Marvel at skillz.
- Clean hat
- Put feathers on hat, in artful ways. Think about other stuff that may go on it
- Make nifty wire ear hook jewelry (think of how she has veins on the side of her face... I'm making it like it's wire jewelry. hard to explain, but it could be awesome.)
- Make normal earrings, based on the weird danglies from her headdress
- Debate black lace necklace (might as well use the lace that got pulled off of it and besides, I love making stuff that I can use for other things)
- Sew feather boa around neckline, use other boa for sleeves
Terra
- Get new tights, hopefully with swirlies. If not, get white ones and dribble fabric paint on them.
- The hell with finding red boots, just make sure the laces on boots are tucked in (or possibly make some ghetto boot covers, if I have time)
- Make sure wig is in good shape
- Sew some dangly bead trim on the end of the sash, so it falls better (also Amano loves his beads and sashes) Need purple thread for this.
Veld
- Print off Shinra ID.
- Just make sure you pack all the pieces of the suit. Possibly wear costume on the plane, since packing the hat will suck. Actually, Edea hat might suck to pack more. Debate.
Tellah
- Purchase Santa beard, white wig. Make it look crazy. Costume shop in the area will likely have all this.
-Locate 90s sunglasses Nevermind I know where they are.
- Raid Mom's closet for pants, shirt (her stuff will be overlarge, pants when combined with my hi-top sneakers will make for awesome pimpness)
- Dig Grandma bling out of drawer in studio (one necklace in particular... bwhahaha)
- Learn some Beastie Boys lyrics.
For
drakonlily:
- Put clip on end of pocket watch for ease of attaching.
- Work on cane, see if you can use the spring on it for evil
For
irish_ais:
- Get better ring for attaching key to chain, as it has a possibility of falling off currently.
- Marvel at skillz.
For
katmillia:
- Make choker for Ellone costume (have ribbon, will make it adjustable so I don't have to have neck measurements. Find awesome charm for the center of it, possibly a watch part, and I have some white lace to go with it)
For
first_seventhe:
- Make hairsticks. Devise clever way to attach them if hair extension/wig is unruly. (these will be badass)
- Make hairclip as backup.
For Everyone:
- Put together prop/jewelry bag, as I have a ton of that stuff.
- Make sure I get the stuff I'm not specifically making FOR people back. XD
It only LOOKS long.
And my mom is playing Wii as I type this. She turned it on this morning after taking care of some chore stuff--I may have to borrow some games from work, because she's quickly gaining skillz. I will have to ask for suggestions from work peoples on adventurish games. Am getting her a dance game for Christmas, and talking Dad into a WiiFit from him. Considering my mom has been talking about doing more stuff.

P.S. Didn't get to see all of Project Runway because of mom's birthday. Will find rerun. Am excited to see the results, because they brought back MY FAVORITE challenge and MY FAVORITE designer (Austin. I'm a huge Austin fan, he's such an ADORABLE little queen).
P.P.S. Dr. Horrible part II is up. <3!

The veins as wires sound clever.

I.... I wanna go to Otacon....
